Dr. Leo Yee-Hung Cheng, MD

Although not ill-mannered, my experience with Dr. Cheng has been profoundly negative. He doesn't understand the concept of objective analysis, believing that his own superficial perceptions of a patient is enough for his judgments to be undeniably correct. If a patient is dissatisfied, Cheng will simply put down all disagreements & lack of trust as borne from anxiety and ignore the debate in objective reasoning. He assumes that asking "what ifs" is a sign of anxiety when it is actually a way of beckoning him to be more open-minded & view alternative perspectives as a doctor, or any scientist, should. Most egregiously, however, he will go as far as to twist your words, take them out of context, misreport, to match his preconceived diagnosis. You will not be able to communicate with him because his approach is marred by confirmation biases every step of the way. For example, if you report issues with breathing in exercise, he will assume that you are too anxiously deluded to… understand that normal people have issues breathing after long exercise (quote: "EVERYONE has difficulty breathing in exercise"), even if you have been a star runner for many years to understand what kind of difficulty breathing is normal. He will not even consider that you may be referring to what is actually asthma. If you have been increasingly struggling with exercise the more exercise you have done, he will simply ignore this report, assume you are lying, and tell you that the problem is that you are too anxious and too lazy to exercise more, when you exercised daily for many years. These are but a couple of examples. He develops preconceptions, and then twists what is reported to match his preconception. He also doesn't understand that fatigue can be many different things. He think simply and is the epitome of the stereotypical doctor that can only think inside the box who lacks all capabilities of individual analysis whatsoever, regularly committing logical fallacies.

Easy to make appointments with Dr. Cheng. He has quiet demeanor. He remembers my kids activities and how injuries/illnesses can effect them. I've emailed him with questions or notes needed and he's super prompt and helpful.
