Dr. Leo Roland Toupin, MD

Dr. Toupin is very thorough. He explains things clearly and will actually listen to you.

He listens. He's a good diagnostician. He was spot on with several issues. I'm moving 200 miles away, but worth coming back to Austin for see him for more than minor stuff.

Dr. Toupin may be an excellent doctor but I saw his PA. I needed referrals to a couple of specialist but spent over a month trying to get them to fax referrals to doctors that I had to get through my insurance that took my plan. The office staff is very slow and I don't know if they lied to me every time I called regarding these referrals or just didn't care. I finally told them that I would come by the office and pick up the referrals and carry them to my appointments myself. And low and behold they suddenly showed up at the specialist I myself had searched out because I was given names of doctors by Dr. Toupin's office staff that that didn't take my plan. I will be on my death bed before I ever go back in that office. Especially if I need referrals. Just not worth all the hassle.

I have been seeing Dr. Toupin for ver 6 years. He is a very efficient doctor. Very caring and very knowledgeable. He takes time to explain the diagnosis and not only that, He writes down everything for me in an additional paper which I use to review when I get home. This si very helpful since I tend to be forgetful when I go to the doctor I am glad he takes my insurance. Not every one does. I am not the perfect patient myself since I haveto cancel or postpone my follow ups. I have not encountered any issues with his staff. I like to deal with his Medical Assistant. She knows what she is doing and she's very pleasant. Dr. Toupin really takes his time helping me with my health concerns. I feel he is part of my family. I cannot ask for a better service. I understand and realize that doctors have a very limited time to help patients and he cannot take care of all my health issues in a visit. Visits are consisted of 15 minutes and it is not easy for a physician to take care of… multiple diagnosis in those 15 minutes especially if you have multiple, complicated health ailments. Patients need to be realistic.

Dr. Toupin has been the most professional, knowledgeable, and downright fun physician I have ever encountered. He takes in all the details, no matter how small, and formulates an opinion that is always on-target. I have the utmost respect for his advice and care and would trust no other to deal with my families' needs. You rock, doc!!!!!

Some of the front office staff can be a little crabby and I haven't seen his PA, but he is a brilliant doctor. He takes the time (so I don't mind waiting in the lobby bc I know he is giving the same care to other patients) to figure out the correct diagnosis & that's half the battle in knowing how to treat you. He is current in the latest studies & expert in sleep medicine. I have unique medical conditions and I'm lucky to have a great Internist.

I have been going to this doctor for many years and was one of his first patients. If I have a problem with his office staff (normally just with the recpt) I email him my concerns. I have recommended him to others that are still his patients. I trust him with all my concerns and health needs, he is one caring person.

Short wait times and a very good doctor

If you are looking for a professional doctor who is respectful and empathetic, Dr. Toupin is the last person you should consider. I found him to be extremely condescending and pretentious. His staff was equally as disinterested. During our visit, he preferred to do all of the talking and very little listening. In fact, there were several times when I tried to converse with him and he simply talked over me. If I was dying and he was the only doctor available, I would rather die than have to see him again.
