Dr. Leo Joseph Troy, MD

Something about his repair to my leg is so successful that 6 weeks after surgery I was able yesterday to stand at my French easel and paint outside for three hours yesterday afternoon. Of course I took breaks and sat in the back of my car every now and then, but as a full time painter I was pretty happy.

I have arthritis in my hips from ballet and knee injuries from skiing, and was looking for a treatment plan to increase mobility and reduce inflammation/pain. He rudely dismissed my health concerns, barely looked at my x-rays, said "everyone over a certain age has bad knees." I think he spent 5 minutes with me, and didn't bother looking at my medical record or images. Useless-- and discouraging.

I went to Dr. Troy for a sprained ankle, he gave me a lace up boot and said I should not use crutches even though I had to walk 3 hours per day. 4 months later, my ankle has been re-injured twice and now the OTHER ankle is sprained too. Worst advice I ever got. He takes an incomplete medical history, rushes through the appointment like it's a race, and both he and his assistant tried to tell me to NOT take notes about the diagnosis, treatment, and MRI results. I don't really care if a doctor is condescending in attitude, but I do care that his medical advice was wrong and caused further injury. Avoid this doctor if you want to heal.

Dr Troy ignored most of the information in the MRI report that he had ordered and did not give me an accurate diagnosis. In addition to a broken tibia (his diagnosis), I also had a torn ACL and grade 2 MCL strain that he failed to mention. He said I would heal in about 4-6 weeks. Several weeks later I was still in a lot of pain and couldn't bend my leg, so I went for a second opinion which is when I discovered the torn ligaments (which was reported in the original MRI) and that I would need surgery.

I went to Dr. Troy for an issue with my leg. I explained I could not stand on it without excessive issues. Dr. Troy was completed uninterested in seeing me. He had absolutely zero interest in me or my medical issue. Dr. Troy is probably the worst doctor I have ever seen. When I asked what I should do when my leg was unstable he told me to hold onto something !!! Genius, right? Not !!! I would highly recommend anyone contemplating a consult with this doctor ask for another physician. if Dr. Troy is not interested in seeing patients and providing the best possible care, he should try another profession. At the very least he should not accept patients he has absolutely no interesting in helping.

I saw this guy for about 30 seconds. He looked at the X-rays of my ankle that were taken at Mount Auburn's Urgent Care, prior to coming into the room and visiting with me. I didn't so much as get a chance to tell him anything about it. He looked at my solid purple, swollen monstrosity and said, "You should be walking on this, you have a sprain-- we'll get you fitted for a boot. If you don't walk on it, you'll get blood clots and then you'll die." So, I got my effing boot, and walked on it, and then I got a brace, and walked on it, and then I struggled and limped on it for three months, going to PT just like he said. Fast forward 3 months, and I go to MGH for a second opinion, because I am NOT getting any better, and... I had a broken Talus. Now I need a bone graft, realignment of almost everything in my ankle, and potentially a fusion of a joint. My ankle is never going to be the same, but it sure might have been if I'd gotten a second opinion three months ago. HOW DO YOU MISS A TALUS… FRACTURE?!

I saw dr troy for an ostreocrondroma(tumor in my left femur)He was telling me "you'll be better soon give it a week or two"well here it is over a month and still have swelling and the pain is unbelievable...I was smart and called an oncologist and he told me that dr troy was not supposed to do the surgery...that I should've been seen by an oncologist from the beginning...When I wanted my pathology reports it was like pulling teeth (I think I hurt his ego going to another doctor)so all in a nut shell I'm still swollen I havr another lump and all I got from him was "you shouldn't be going through this...Bottom line is he sucks and should be reported to the board....Thanks for you time

Troy set my broken leg with metal rod 4 years ago. Leg has never healed properly. Have used other doctors to realign my ankle. Went back to Dr. Troy for possible options as to why I am in such pain. He said there wasn't much he could do but finally offered data could be gleaned from a bone scan. Made another appoint for the scam results. Three fractures in my leg were apparent that did not show on his X-ray. I asked what my options where. He said "Live with pain." His mobile rang; he answered it without hesitation, completely ignored me while he socially chatted. After a suitable amount of time (ten minutes by my watch) I left his office before that call ended. So much for "Do no harm."
