Dr. Leon Ernest Paulos, MD

Excellent Dr. I highly recommend him

I have know of Dr. Paulos for over thirty years. His reputation as a great doctor and excellent surgeon seemed to follow him throughout the years. Last year after many years of pain in my right shoulder, i decided to fully investigate the options available. About 20 years before, another doctor had suggested physical therapy which did not fix the problem. When i say Dr. Paulos he and his team started with an exam, x-rays, and a followup MRI. The result was a potential tear in the rotator cuff. He asked what i would like to do, rehab, or surgery and i opted for surgery. We expected to be in the operating room for about an hour. However, the damage was far more extensive upon surgical inspection so it lasted nearly two hours. During the time, my family was updated by the team at the hospital. After the surgery, he explained the damage and the solution. It turns out that i have a 360 rotator cuff tear or bankart. In addition, bone spurs and a split and tear of the bicep were… repaired. His team found the right Physical Therapist for me (Rick at Westwood) and rehab started immediately. The first thing that Rick told me is that i had likely been only 6 months from a total shoulder. He praised Dr. Paulos technique in applying laser to the accromium to help the ball fit back in the socket. He told me that many surgeors "over cook" the socket in an attempt to stop future dislocations but at the cost of overall range of movement. A year later, this has been a great decision. All through the process, he guided my rehab. I liked him so much that i referred my mother who was 85 at the time and had seen many specialists to treat her cronic shoulder pain. No a single thing had really worked so she was stuck with acute pain everytime she moved her shoulder. She was literally debilitated!. We discussed many options with Dr. Paulos since her surgeon who had done her total 20 years prior did not want to do anything. Dr. Paulos gave her 5 potential outcomes from a dislocation that kept table top movement to a replacement where the bone had worn away. One year later my mom is estatic.

My husband and I have both had surgeries and never had any problems since. He will always be our orthopedic surgeon until he (heaven forbid) he retires! Excellence from the moment you walk into his office!

The last two times I have been to Dr. Paulos I have waited at least 1 hour and then had to leave and reschedule my appointment. I believe my time is just as important as his.

I will start off by saying that I was a real patient of Doctor Paulos and that Personally I like him he is a nice guy but after he did a total knee replacement surgery I had to have a full revision surgery of the same knee in only 12 months. The original implants were misaligned causing the tibial plate to loosen. I am not sure where to assign blame was it the manufacturer Conformis or the way it was put in it was a custom made knee implant from a CT scan of my legs. The results are no income for one month due to recovery and going through this whole surgery again. The pain of recovery. I now have a 9 inch spike put in at an angle down my Tibia. Their are still questions in my mind as to what happened. Conformis the knee implant manufacturer will not answer my questions and I don't feel like talking to Dr. Paulos. I would get a second opinion from another surgeon and proceed with caution I had also heard from hospital staff that most of my surgery was really done by another doctor… while Dr. Paulos observed.

I have gone to 6 different surgeons on my knee and no one could give me hope. Dr Poulos and his staff are all very personable and they care. Very important to me. I would tell everyone that needs help go to Dr. P

I am a 43 yr old female who's had some major issues with my knees for many yrs. I was recommended by my husband to go see this AWESOME caring and warm hearted doctor. I finally gave in and seen Dr P. Wow was I ever so impressed upon how I was treated the moment I walked through the door and until I had to leave. The team that Dr Paulos has is a great team (including him)!!!! Just a heads up.... I've gone through 9 knee surgeries and most have been done by Dr. Paulos. But, I'm working on having another surgery soon (PFR) on my knee. This is due to my knees are worn out and heredity is evil. I TOTALLY WOULD RECOMMEND DR. PAULOS AND HIS TEAM TO ALL! He's got some great back ground for helping others (UTAH UTES PLAYERS/COACH, MANY HIGH SCHOOLS, OLYMPIANS, AND MORE) to be able to play and do things that they've wanted to achieve in their lives. He's also done some inventing of braces and more. Dr Paulos and team are the one you want for your Dr/team!!!

I TOTALLY TRUST HIM AND HE HAS DONE EVERYTHING POSSIBLE TO REPAIR MY SHOULDER. i RECOMMEND HIM TO ANYONE I KNOW FOR THE CARE AND KINDNESS HE HAS SHOWN ME.

He did a TKR and it has given me back my quality of life it just does not get any better than this. I had the chance to see other surgeons but they did not seem very positive about the outcome. These guys knew what they were doing and did it with a very positive attitude. They explained every step that they were taking and took the time to answer all of questions that I had. I should have done this years earlier. Thanks to the entire staff.
