Dr. Leon Alberto Poveda, MD

Avoid Grace Family Medicine. Dr. Leon Poveda is extremely unprofessional and likely dangerous to those with chronic conditions. He is always late, makes excuses, and never apologizes. During my visits, he called me by the wrong name repeatedly and asked the same questions 20 times because he doesn't pay attention or keep records. When I needed him to coordinate with my insurance for my diabetes, he said his "small company" didn't have time for the work and dropped me. He treats patients like a paycheck, and the office staff is unreachable. Other patients have reported him delivering bad news and then "ghosting" them. Don't let the high number of reviews fool you; this practice is a disaster that ignores serious medical needs.

WARNING: UNPROFESSIONAL & DANGEROUS CARE. My experience with Leon Poveda, MD at Grace Family Medicine was the most unprofessional medical encounter I’ve ever had. Despite correcting him five times, he refused to call me by my correct name. More importantly, he showed a total disregard for my health as a Type 2 diabetic with a dangerously high A1C. When I asked for help verifying which medications my insurance approved, he flat-out refused, stating they are a "small company" and don’t have time for the "work" of calling insurance. When I begged him to just check a fax from my insurance so I could get my medicine before finding a new doctor, he told me it was "none of his business anymore" and dropped me as a patient on the spot. In Florida, doctors have a legal duty not to abandon patients, especially those with chronic conditions that require medication to avoid hospitalization. Dr. Poveda seems only interested in billing insurance and avoiding actual work. I am filing formal… complaints with the Florida Board of Medicine (Health Care Complaint Portal) and the BBB. Do not trust this clinic with your life.

Leon Poveda, MD values profit and "saving time" over patient lives. I am a Type 2 diabetic with a high A1C, yet this doctor refused to verify my covered medications because his office is a "small company" that doesn't want to do the administrative work. When I asked him to review the insurance fax so I could stay safe while transitioning to a new provider, he told me my health was "none of his business." This is a clear case of patient abandonment. He appears to be milking the system for insurance billing while doing zero work to ensure patient safety. If you have a serious health condition, stay far away. Your health is not a game, but it is to this office. I have reported this clinic to the Florida Board of Medicine.

Dr. Poveda has taken excellent care of me. He goes above and beyond and even calls me at home to ease my worried mind and provide me with good advice and good referrals. He is extremely busy but always takes adequate time to treat you. Best doctor I have ever been to. Elif is the receptionist who does the work of ten people. She is amazing and finds time to share a laugh while being so professional. I was blessed to find them. Thank you to their entire staff. Paula A.

He spends time with you. He does not keep you waiting long. His staff are pleasant and very helpful.

I went to this doc for the first time and I saw the nurse Ellen Williamson.I told her I was on a medication for anxiety and I was having bad side effects from the medication and I was weaning myself off the med. I was pleading for help. She told me I would have to referral myself. I wasn't asking for no crazy medication, I was asking for HELP I'm having a hard time with this medication. I can't believe you go to a doc and they don't help..... I told her I have endometriosis and I need ibuprofen 800 mg, because that what I was on before... I couldn't even get that. She was so unhelpful.

Very nice DR and office staff. Been with him many yrs as is my Hubby and son.

Dr. Poveda is my father's doctor. When I have a question it's HIM who calls me back, and explains things to me until I am comfortable. His office is quite busy, but he is one of the few doctors who takes his time with people.
