Dr. Leonard Ross Zemel, MD

I saw Leonard Zemel several decades ago. I was experiencing serious pain, which he must have diminished because he thought I was a complaining woman? Not really certain. He has a nonexistent bedside manner and doesn’t listen to patients. He was treating me for microscopic pituitary tumors and the medication was known to cause stomach distress but nothing like I was experiencing. He then thought I had an ulcer and treated me for that. After my second visit to the ER due to pain in a 12 month period, it was discovered that my gallbladder was so diseased that I was septic, that my bile duct had shrunken to the size of a drawn pencil line, I had a 7 hour surgery (only after IV antibiotics got the sepsis under control enough to operate), was hospitalized for 12 days and went home for 8 weeks with a bag for bile to drain into - all due to his failure to ever order a simple urine test to check my liver function. When the surgeon called Zemel to tell him about my condition and status, no joke… - the surgeon told me Zemel said “Well, I guess I really missed that one.”

This man clearly cares very little for his patients. He did not address kidney disease and actually told me NOT to go to a kidney Dr. Very glad I didn't listen! He didn't want to do anything about rising blood sugar even though both kidney Dr and ophthalmologist wanted better control. Had to argue for changes in medication. SO glad we found a different Dr! Don't see this guy for diabetes, you will be very sorry if you do!

I agree with the person who says "I find him to be more interested in teaching his residents than communicating with me, He didn't listen to or was very insulting when I had a one question for him and made snide comments to me. His attitude towards me was insulting. Maybe he just didn't like my looks, who knows. I am not sure if he just acts this way if you are a women or to all patients but is very unprofessional. Probably a good Doctor but a VERY BAD Bed Side Manner.

Dr. Zemel has been my Diabetes doctor for many, many years and he is very professional, friendly and takes time out to talk to you about the illness. He recommends certain medications and wants to do follow-ups. I am very comfortable & relax with him every time for an appointment.

Dr. Zemel is my choice in endocrinology docs. He is highly educated and extremely honest with patients. Thank you Doc

I went to Dr Zemel for a biopsy of a nodule . I was told by the office that Dr Zemel like to do this. When he did the biopsy he didn’t sterilize or numb area. In the end he didn’t get enough cells and informed that I would need to do another biopsy with an ultrasound. I then had my internist make appt with ultrasound at a hospital. When they performed biopsy they sterilized and use a numbing agent. I feel Dr Zemel was unprofessional.

Dr Zemel is an exceptional Dr. I walked into his office 2 years ago 79 lbs and very sick. He took the time with his caring manner to help me with a plan for recovery. Today, under his care, I am healthy and strong again. I can not say enough good about this exceptional Doctor and person.

Dr zemel took good care of me for 20 yrs. I'm now in fla. And wish there was r. As good as him here!!!! Bob B.

Dr. Zemel is one of the brightest physicians I have seen. I've been a patient of his for a decade. He listens very well and considers every angle about my symptoms. My health has greatly improved.

Don't waste your time and money with visiting Dr. Zemel. He's ego is in the way of truly being able to help his patients. I have never felt so insulted and offended by a doctor before. What a horrible bedside manner he has, I'd say it's time for him to retire .
