Dr. Leonardo Alberto Palau, MD

Dr. Leonardo Palau is not interested in helping patients that he seems to believe are not worth of his time. He is in the business for insurance money. He does not want to help anyone. He basically told me that there is nothing he can do for me. That’s not the type of doctor that I can trust. He’s not worth your time or money. He’s a joke.

Great doctor....AWFUL office billing staff.

Doctor kallal has undisputedly lost his compassion and his ability to properly care for his patients. He is the only doctor I have ever encountered that spoke over me, interrupted me, and had a severe inability to listen respectfully. Dr. Palau was dismissive, inattentive, and completely unprofessional. If you are looking for a doctor you can trust, this is not the place for you.

Has put my husband needs first!

I have been going to Dr. Paula for approximately a year. Dr. Paula appear to be a nice guy, but several mishap took place over the year I was seeing the doctor. I have been taking a particular medication for approximately 14 years, and was taking two tablets daily. However, upon on seeing this doctor him or his nurse wrote a prescription stating take one tablet per day, and fortunate I was able to see he made a tremendous mistake on the prescription once the pharmacist filled the prescription. It is beyond my understanding how a specialist can make such a big mistake, which could have cost me dearly if I went by his or whoever wrote the prescription recommendations. I also had major problems with his office staff rescheduling me for blood work. I missed my original appointment for blood work, because of personal reasons. I called and asked the nurse or office manager to reschedule me, and she just kept giving me the run around. The staff who he has working for him kept telling me, "… Well you had an appoint scheduled to do blood work, but you missed it. I explained to her I did miss the appointment do to personal problems I have been dealing with for the past six months. She promised to schedule me for another blood work appointment, but never did schedule me for an appointment. She had a very nasty demeanor over the phone. It is very imperative that a doctor have polite caring individual working for their facility, because their attitude and actions is a reflection of them also. The other major problem is that the company who do the blood work for this doctor is very unprofessional (Quest Diagnostic). The first time when I went to get my blood work taken they were talking personal business around the clients, and being rude to each other by arguing. I also have a funny suspicion that they may have misread my blood work, and if you ever try calling them, they will keep you on hold for almost an hour before they get to you (Quest Diagnostic). When an individual is dealing with an illness, they want to deal with caring individual, and not snappy office staff. Before going to Dr. Palau I was going to Kelsey Seybold, and the doctors and office staff were excellent. If I missed an appointment they had know problem with re-scheduling me, the lab (Lab Corp) was timely when taking blood work, you had know problem with getting through to the lab when calling, the nurse and office staff always friendly, courteous, and caring, they never made a mistake on my life or death medication prescription. I only stopped going to Kelsey Seybold, because they stopped taking my insurance. Dr. Palau is closer to where I live, Therefore; I decided to try him. I have found out sometime when your health is at stake it is worth driving to the medical center, and paying for parking. Well, for now on I will find medical care in the medical center area. Again, Dr. Palau appear to be a nice guy, and the prescription that was written was a mistake I do not hold that against the doctor, but the office staff have a nasty attitude, and they do not appear to be caring. I can not excuse having a snappy, nasty, lazy and unfriendly staff.

Wow!! Giving this doctor*that is what he calls himself* a star is really hard. I was diagnosed with MRSA. When I got to his office my parents were told that they had to pay 1 ,278 before I could start treatment...really?I went everyday for a month to receive an IV treatment of Vancomycin. I found it weird that all of us patients with different problems were all in the same room. They even did wound care in that room. I was told that my insurance would not let me take the medicine home. In fact supposedly several of the office staff had actually checked it. I am a teacher and I was so stressed out to get there and back at school, I just believed them. When I finally was off for Christmas break I had time to call my insurance. My insurance said, " You are covered!! to do this at home." I told the nurses and they said that the doctor will only allow his pharmacy to distribute the medicine and that the insurance company would not go for that....kinda strange again...money, money,… money...for him. However, I finally spoke with the billing girl and she called and guess what... yes my insurance company would totally do this and she had no idea why the girls in the office were so lazy. Then she directed the pharmacy guy, who never wore a uniform...kinda werid huh? ... to give me the medicine and that I could take at home. I received it at room temp. which was a red flag for me. I know the vancomycin has to be kept refrigerated to keep its shelf life. So basically I was handed medicine that no longer worked... So today I went to a real infectious disease doctor, who could not believe that they did wound care, changed dressing, and had us all in the same room together, and so on. She was in shock that this was even taking place. Also, the medicine was not effective at room temp. I learned a lot about this Palau today and lets just say that he will not be happy when things are over. I am now seeing a real doctor that said I would be well within a week or so and that I would be taking real medicine not vacomycin to cure me. All I can say is that you would be really stupid or rich to give out all of your money to this so called doctor.

I only have Houston NW Medical Center outpatient infusion center to compare Dr. Palau's clinic to, but it comes out ahead for the most part. It's bustling and bright and cheerful and efficient and comfortable.Dr. Palau will put you right at ease during your office visit. He is very observant and caring and will make sure you get all the care you need.

I first was treated by Dr. Paulau at St Luke's hospital in The Woodlands. I found him to be professional and most concerned about my case. He is a caring individual and his staff is most freindly. The out-patient visits to his clinic were good expereinces for me.

I was treated by Dr. Palau earlier this year. I could tell that he really cared about what I was going through. He took the time to ensure proper diagnosis, whereas my primary care doctor did not. I would recommend this doctor to everybody. His staff is nice and I have enjoyed communicating with them during each visit.

My impression of Dr. Palaus Houston for Infectious Diseases clinic was of the outmost positive manner. First, the clinic is immaculately clean and ordely. Second, the staff is friendly, warm and very professional. Third, the clinic has a beautiful lounge area where I felt relax while I waiting to see Dr. Palau for my consultation. I am probably the worst client Dr. Palau could have. I went to the clinic unannounced, I didnt have an appointment, and I was concerned and anxious about my health. Dr. Palau took all these issues to heart in a calm and professional manner. In the consultation Dr. Palaus professionalism was evident. I was treated cordially, I felt that Dr. Palaus cared for my health and I knew Dr. Palaus experience was extensive. Dr. Palaus gave me the diagnosis and after talking to him I felt more confident about my health and I felt I was in good hands.I strongly recommend Dr. Palaus clinic the Houston Center for Infectious Diseases. It is a place where you can find… comfort when you face difficult health issues in your lifetime. Something that is not readily available at other clinics.
