Went in with my mother who was referred by her physician to this piece of work. He started the consult by lounging on a chair, not even bothering to sit up straight. Clear sign of disinterest, as if he was bothered to even be there. With a translator in tow, the “doctor” seemed to be upset of my mothers lack of grasp on the English language. Constantly condescending towards her, her concerns, and her hurt back which was the reason why we were there. In the end he didn’t even bother to put a finger on her to see where the pain was, he just wrote a note and handed it to the translator. Didn’t even bother to hand her the note himself. Clearly this is not the first run in with other patients. Go somewhere else.

My experience with this doctor was very much like what's described in the negative comments here. He did not explain my condition to me, did not explain my limitations, seemed unwilling to address or answer my questions, and left me feeling confused and distressed. IMO, he seems very chauvinistic. Given that I saw him for treatment of a very serious disease, his lack of communication was very inappropriate, IMO. Because of his attitude, I had to switch my care to another Boston hospital, where I found a physiatrist who treated me well.

I've used Dr. Shinchuk for about a year now. The treatments have worked, he is very knowledgeable. My confidence in him, and the nurses that support him, is high. I considermyself to be a picky patient, so high praise indeed.

I had a sudden onset herniated disc with extreme pain four years ago. I could only stand on one leg--literally, I could not put down my foot. Dr. Shinchuk saw me quickly, ordered an MRI that was completed within a week, and then gave me two rounds of spinal injections under fluoroscopy at Spaulding Rehab. Since the second injection I have been pain free for over four years. 100% pain free and I travel around the world with heavy camera equipment. I could not recommend Dr. Shinchuk highly enough.

I have been seeing Dr Shinchuk for a bit and he is on top of things when it comes to my pain and he is always trying to help me out with neck pain.. he is a very nice doctor who does care about his patients. Thank you Gina

He just wanted the money for each injection he game me for my spinal problem . He only spent 5 minutes talking to me about my health issues , unfriendly , and the worse is that when the treatment was not working at all . I asked him what was the next step ? He said to me : well what else can we do ? Be aware with this doctor , he does not care for his patients at all . He only wants the money . Mass General was the biggest deception in my life . Since everybody was telling me that i was in the best hospital of Massachusetts

Dr. Shinchuk was one of the most polite, kind, and, informative Drs. that I have ever visited.

After 10+ years of chronic lower back pain, Dr. Shinchuk accurately diagnosed AND treated the problem. He's the ONLY physician that has ever been able to do so. I found Dr. Shinchuk to be highly experienced, knowledgable, efficient and very confident...I think he's a fine listener and moreover, suspect he's misunderstood because MRIs often provide much of the information he really needs (in other words, he doesn't feel the need to ask lots of "filler" questions). I have been virtually pain free for 5 years and have recommended Dr. Shinchuk to friends with great success.
