Dr. Lev Do Haimoff, DO

I saw Dr. Lev Haimoff about a mild cough after being referred by the staff at my regular doctor's office, since she was unavailable. After spending about two minutes with me, Dr. Haimoff prescribed me a steroid-based inhaler usually used to treat severe asthma, even though I was very clear with him that I do not have asthma. The drug was expensive, and the list of side effects was pretty serious--major personality changes, heart problems, and greatly increased risk of pneumonia are a few--but after I called the office and Dr. Haimoff confirmed that that was the best prescription for my cough, I started taking it. Three days into treatment with that prescription, I woke up with chest pain that persisted throughout the day, potentially signaling an overdose or a very serious side effect, according to the drug information. I made an emergency appointment at a walk-in clinic, where the doctor was horrified that I had been prescribed this steroid. Not only was it ineffective against… my cough, it was dangerous and meant to be prescribed only for severe illnesses worthy of the risk of pneumonia or heart problems the drug carries--so my minor cough didn't qualify! It took more than two days for my chest pain to subside after I stopped taking the drug Dr. Haimoff wrongly prescribed me, and the whole experience was scary. I have no idea what he was thinking, but I will definitely be warning people away from this doctor.

i asked the doctor few times are you sure this is what i have....he knew i was short of money.....the medication prescribed made the matter worse and was very expensive.ended up going to see a derm

Then, she calls me repeatedly while I'm at work and when I get a minute to answer the phone her exact words are, "you told me you didn't owe anything and left without paying." She accuses me of lying to her! How can you treat your patients like this?! Especially on their first visit?! Obviously they have all my information, it's not like I'm trying to pull one over on them. I told her that I was at work and busy and because of her attitude was not willing to inconvenience myself so she could "close out her day."

Professional and courteous, willing to discuss my concerns. I only had a little strep throat, but nonetheless, I think he did a stand up job.

I feel very pleased to have found him as my GP. I won't be changing anytime soon! He is incredibly punctual, professional, knowledgeable, and caring. I can't recommend him enough. He makes going to the doctor a pleasure even if you feel like you are on deaths door.

Dr. Haimoff made me feel very comfortable, spent a lot of time with me, and is very knowledgeable. It's hard to find a doctor in NYC who has good listening skills and doesn't seem rushed. These are two things that are very important and he has both! He also knows what he's talking about--not all wishy washy and vague like some doctors.

A co-worker suggested I see Dr. Haimoff. I was able to see him quickly (got an appointment that day) and have returned twice since that initial visit. He is very nice and attentive. Takes time with you and seems knowledgeable. The office staff isn't as good - they made an error with one appointment, but overall I'd recommend going to see Dr. Haimoff.
