Horrible doctor!!! Please avoid him and Thank God he retired (or so I was told). He gave up on my father the moment he saw him. His first recommendation was to give him pain medications and let him die. To the doctor’s surprise my father reacted well to chemotherapy. The doctor told me not matter what we do my father will die in 2-6 months. My dad is alive a year later! I was also told numerous times by MSK that they did my father genealogical study and that it took time for the results. No one explained the significance of test the cancer specimen for possible gene based therapy. Eleven (11) months later I discover that MSK never did the study!!! This is NOT how you treat patients. Very disappointed at what is supposed to be one of the best cancer treatment places.

Dr. Kampel treated my father for prostate cancer. He took him on as a patient when my father was sick, provided the best quality of care and was one of the most compassionate doctors I've ever met. My family was so grateful and I think of him today as a model for other doctors. Thank you, Dr. Kampel! Still grateful after all these years.

The doctor struck me as an old school, slash and burn type of oncologist, using old tried and true methods that have been in practice for decades. How about a little thinking out of the box, where the patient's quality of life is a bit more important than just shrinking a tumor? He may be good, with years of experience, but with all the new drugs and treatment options, I would like to see some new thinking to partner them.

Constantly interrupts. Does not listen. Has no empathy or evident respect for patients. Arrogant and smug. No thanks,

I saw Dr. Kampel for a number of years and finally left. He treated his patients like numbers. I got the impression that no matter what we discussed, he was going to do what he was going to do. He was never prepared for my appointments and spent a lot of time leafing through my file looking for test results. Overall he violated all of the basic requirements of a good doctor, he didn't listen, wasn't open to new ideas, didn't remember me from visit to visit, etc. I am much happier with my new oncologist who is the exact opposite of Dr. Kampel.

Gives you the fish eye.. Really couldn't be less empathetic ..

Overall he just acted like he did not care. It was like my husband was nothing but a number....NEXT!!
