Dr. Lia A Arber, MD

Today I stopped at my pediatrician's office and picked up health records for my both kids. The reason why? My pediatrician, who is not my pediatrician anymore, LIA ARBER (remember her name, people) refused to give me a medical note that my 11-year-old asthmatic child cannot wear a mask at school due to his health condition. She wants all kids, despite their health condition, to wear masks. She said: all kids MUST wear masks at school because that's what the state wants. So, it doesn't matter to her that my child, whose lungs are already compromised, will be deprived of oxygen 7 hours a day at school. It doesn't matter to her, that instead of oxygen he will be breathing CO2 with all the germs and bacteria accumulated on the mask. All the junk that our body wants to naturally eject would be forced back into my 11-year-old son's lungs, brain and blood while at the same time his young body will be gasping for air and not having enough. I asked myself: what is wrong with this "doctor"?… Didn't she take "Hippocratic Oath" years ago when she decided to become a doctor? Hippocratic Oath that means "First, do no harm?" Why would she want to harm my child??? Is it negligence, incompetence, or just fear of losing her practice? I don't care what the real reason is. All I care about is that she is not a doctor I want for my children or any children for that matter. So, I am sharing this story with you to warn you about this "doctor" or any other "doctors" like her. Remember her name: Lia Arber, a pediatrician. Avoid her by any means if you want your child to be healthy.

My two children have been patients of Dr. Arber for 5 years and we will now switch doctors. There is no bond between her and myself or her and my children. She shows no compassion at all. It is also hard to get an appointment in the Gurnee area which she says she provides services but I have to travel to Chicago (1 hour away) to be seen. I've also requested copies of my daughter shot records for school purposes and it has now been 3 weeks and I still have not received them. My daughter can not attend school without them and I've been basically begging the office to send them.

I had been going to Dr. Arber for 10 yeas with my older children. They were always pretty healthy, but when I had a new addition to the family the baby was sick a lot. Dr. Arber was not able to diagnosis what was wrong with the baby. The symptoms were getting worse the baby started having seizures, she never order blood work or sent us to a specialist. The baby would cry all day and night was vomiting had bad rash all over body and I made several trips to her office with no relief for baby. Finally I switch doctors and the new doctor ordered blood work only to find out baby had an allergy to milk. Dr.Arber never had good bed side manner and doesn't spend a lot of time with her patients. When it comes to newborns and babies she doesn't give you a feeding schedule or tell you what your child's percentiles are, you are left guessing. Her office hours are not convenient and she is not up to date with the technology. She is not very friendly with the children and does not create a bond with… the child. I am happy with the new pediatrician and wonder why I didn't switch years ago. I don't recommend Dr. Arber I think she lost her passion for her job and she just goes through the motions now.

I have Dr Arber as my kids pediatricion for 8 years never had a problem with her or trying to schedule an appt. Her officestaff is great. I would highly recommend this office.

My son was sick everyday for a year. He couldn't get off the couch because he would be sick. He wouldn't eat, his glands were swollen, etc. I asked to take tonsils out and she said no. After I had all I could take my husband and I tried a different doctor and on that first visit she agreed to take his tonsils out based on DR. Arber's notes. He has been so health since that I cannot believe she put him through so much and said he would have to be like that until he grew out of it at the age of 9. Not to mention she wasn't very nice either.

My husband and I were new parents. We only went to her twice because after the first month when breastfeeding had become too much for me she made me feel like a horrible parent for even thinking of switching to formula. Then she basically told me my child was getting too fat. When I had more questions for her, she was basically out the door. Not only does she leave the office before you are finished answering questions, she doesn't even say goodbye so you are not sure your visit is over until the nurse ushers you out. I would never recommend this doctor.

We would not recommend Dr. Lia Arbor. We were NEW patients of her office and new parents. We tried her both times to see if she would improve but to our disappointment it was not. First visit, she said she was running behind schedule; we had questions regarding our newborn and she told us that would we would need to make another appointment because this discussion was going to take too long. Second appointment, we made early so maybe she had more time. We had a ton of questions and as we were asking them, she basically already had one foot out the door. She told us she was going to get us some samples and I said I had more questions. She said ok. She had the nurse bring in the samples and NEVER came back. The nurse told us she had already moved onto the next patient! She didn't even attempt to interact with our daughter. She was very "going through the motions" type of doctor. I'm sure she is very accurate and informative with her diagnosis but as far as bedside manor. She definitely… was not for us. Since we were looking for a pediatrician that would care about our family!

My children use to Dr. Arber, she was great but we had to move. My daughter was always sick and she was pleasant. I highly recommend her.
