Dr. Liborka Kos, MD

My daughter was seen by doctor Kos yesterday. Dr. Kos prescribed an cream in a concentration my pharmacy doesn't carry and refused to give a new prescription for the concentration the pharmacy did carry because "it's a different medication". It is exactly the same medication, just a 0.05% ointment instead of a 0.025%. We could just use half as much and have the same effect. Now I am left struggling to find a pharmacy that both has the medication in the prescribed concentration, and that takes out insurance. Furthermore, the most common concentration of the medication is 0.05%. The 0.025% version is a nasal spray, for rhinitis. So Dr. KOS prescribed the wrong medication amd refuses to fix her mistake. Also, I feel I should add that Dr. Kos made her diagnosis and prescription after only doing a brief physical exam. No diagnostic testing was performed despite this supposedly being a specialist visit, and my daughter previously being prescribed two different corticosteroids by her pcm… without any help for her symptoms. So, sure let's just try a third without actually doing anything to verify what that is causing the disease. But this is extremely typical of dermatology. Why it is even a specialty when all they ever seem to to is take a quick glance at your skin is beyond me. We have all this modern medical technology, but the extent of dermatology is just thinking someone's skind kinda looks similar to someone else's.

My daughter came in for her cystic acne, which she’s been suffering from for the past few years. Dr. Kos was very nice and had wonderful bedside manner. She made me and my daughter very comfortable and was especially accommodating during Covid. The staff were also very nice and helped us schedule monthly video appointments. Definitely recommend her!

My 4 month old had an appointment with Dr. Kos today which I was very nervous about and I couldnt be happier we chose her as his dermatologist! She was very nice and informative and most importantly assured me that everything will be ok. My baby felt great at the office and we both left with smiles. Very convenient location in Wilmette with lots of parking spaces and very easy access to the office on the 2nd floor, which helps a lot when youre coming with a stroller and a lot of baby necessities. Staff was very nice and everyone was on time! Baby Miles says thank you Dr. Kos and the ladies!

Dr. Kos has treated my 3 children over the years for various ailments. We’ve always found the doctor and her staff to be courteous, professional and efficient. I’ve recommended her to others many times.

Not good

Dr. Kos has been great in treating my daughter. She has a calm, intelligent, and supportive manner. Her staff is also kind, personable, and professional. Only difficulty has been getting into her busy schedule.

I think the previous review is odd and does absolutely nothing to inform other potential patients about this physician. Any doctor's office that I've ever gone to, had a policy that you have to re-schedule your appointment if you are more than 15 minutes late. .. I saw Dr.Kos twice for my son--when he was 2 years old and when he was 7. Both times I was told by primary MD that my son needed surgical treatment for his skin problems. Both times Dr.Kos was absolutely right in her diagnosis and helped us avoid potentially risky and unnecessary surgeries. I think she is the best there is--I would recommend her in a heartbeat!!! Would not take my kids to anyone else for complicated derm. problems.

So disappointed! I had an early appointment and got stuck by 2 accidents. I tried calling her office in Vernon Hills to let her staff know and the answering service kept saying it was closed. I finally left a message on the nurses messaging service, but still kept calling and still, it kept saying they were closed. I ended up arriving 25 minutes late. I apologized and told them what happened. They refused to let my daughter be seen unless I waited 2.5 hours. It took me OVER AND HOUR to get there, and I told them I tried calling. The receptionist told me, "Oh you have to press 8 to get through." If I have to press it, why isn't 8 an option when I call in the first place? I sat in the parking lot and cried and had to drive an hour back home again. Not going back.
