Dr. Linda Eglin, MD

Great Dr. Shbeer great. She listens to yout problems. Best ever...!

Eglin doesn't care about listening. She forms an opinion about you and decides what is best for you. If you have any medical knowledge (which I do as a licensed medical professional), she dismisses it out of hand. She has the demeanor of "You couldn't possibly know what you are talking about." Don't try to have a professional discussion with her, she just gets angry and sarcastic. I wouldn't recommend her to anyone. Run away fast.

Sarcastic to the point of being hurtful. Difficult to communicate with.

If u are looking for a dr to hold your hand and baby you with all ur petty complaints dr Eglin is not for u. But, if u have any kind of real health issue u would want her input and care choices that she provides u with. Dr Eglin is a no- nonsense tell it like it is dr. Someone who will be by your side and help u help yourself to heal. My entire family goes to dr Eglin. We have for many years. I trust her judgement and professionism. Trusting ur dr is high on my list.

Dr Eglin is retained to see patients in a nursing home where my mother currently lives. When my mother, who previously was mobile and enjoying her life despite some dementia, broke her hip, she was discharged from the hospital to skilled nursing. The skilled nursing arranged for Dr. Eglin to see her.Dr. Eglin is the most horrifying doctor I have ever encountered in my life. At our first mtg, when she does not know my mother, she told me that she would not have repaired my mother's broken hip but would have left her in bed for the rest of her life. My mom was in terrible pain from the broken hip, and the physical therapists and other doctors think there is some chance she can regain her mobility. Dr. Eglin also attempted to pressure me in signing a form so that my mother would have "comfort care only" and would not receive medical diagnosis or treatment, except for minor interventions such as pain medication. When I declined, she attempted to bully me into signing the form by… giving me threatening examples, such as what would happen if my mother started choking on her own blood? I told her that I wanted my mom to be assessed by a doctor and that I would make decisions on a case by case basis based on the circumstances and the advice of the doctor. Dr Eglin also stated that "I had to let my mother die sometime", with the clear implication that it might as well be now.Subsequently, my mother developed abdominal pain. I was concerned and asked the nursing home 3 times to make an appt for my mother to see Dr. Eglin with me present. The nursing home refused, on the grounds that Dr. Eglin does not have time. My mother ended up in the hospital, seriously ill with infections, for 5 days.As my mother got sicker and sicker in the nursing home, she began to refuse to eat and drink fluids. Even though my mother had drunk very little fluid for 3 to 4 weeks, Dr. Eglin refused to order an IV for her. Whem my mom got to the hospital, the ER found that she was dehydrated, and she had to be on IV fluids for about 10 days. The dehydration clearly made my mother's infections and impacted bowel worse.Upon my mother's release from the hospital, I again asked to make an appt to see Dr. Eglin. Apparently, the doctor was not advised of the appt. When I approached her and asked if another time would be better for her, she was very rude and said, "Let's just get it over with." She then stated that she would not order IVs for my mom, because it was a temporary solution. I pointed out that my mom might be sick and need some assistance until she is better, but Dr. Eglin refused. She was also very combative, rude, and defensive during the conversation. She promised to order pain meds for my mom, who has chronic back pain and pain during physical therapy, but did not do so.During this mtg, I asked the doctor to tell me the best way to reach her if I had a concern about my mom's condition. She essentially told me that she refuses to speak with family and that I could only speak with the nursing home staff. When I attempted to see if it would be possible to make arrangements to meet with her, she ranted and raved that she has limited time, is overloaded with patients, and has a right to a life. All of this may be true, but I think it is reasonable for a doctor to confer with a family member who has concerns or may have valuable information about the patient's medical history.After my mom's return from the hospital, Dr. Eglin ordered a catheter on a long term basis for my mom, even though I stated to the nursing home in writing that I wanted to talk with the doctor about the risk of infection, whether my mom's problems might have resulted from medication side effects, and what the options for treatment are. There is a very high risk of infection with long term catheterization. However, apparently Dr Eglin is unwilling to talk with me.The doctor may be ok if the patient is not elderly or in a vulnerable condition. Otherwise, I would not recommend her.
