Dr. Lisa Abernethy Christman, MD

Rude. The doctor did not stop talking long enough to listen to our concern or answer any questions. She seemed annoyed that we were there and too busy to treat us. Then when we went back for a follow up appt, the staff didn't have us scheduled, although I had the appointment card that they had written me in my hand. They said the doctor wasn't even there that day.

I went to see Dr Christman just once, won't go back. Her office is old, dated. She was cold, unemotional. She breezed in and breezed out in the bat of an eye. She churns, requiring a separate appointment for each individual issue. Have a skin patch? One appointment for her to review it, another for her to do a biopsy. Want to see her about a skin patch and acne, two appointments. Churn. More revenue for her, more expense for her patients. Her use of technology is ineffective. The phone system has so much extraneous info you need to listen to before you are able to take action, that its painful to have to endure the need to call her office. On several occasions, once I got the call through to a person, I was put on hold, finally just hung up. In trying to make a follow-up appointment, I was in transition between insurance carriers and unsure which carrier would cover the visit. In case I needed to pay the bill out of pocket, I wanted to know the… full cost of appointment and biopsy. They wouldn't give me cost info. Yeah, its simply too painful to have to deal with Dr Chistman and her red tape. There must be better dermatology practices out there.

I thought Dr. Christman was kind and friendly, however she seemed extremely rushed. It was my first appointment and it lasted barely 15 minutes. She spoke very quickly and gave me a lot of information but I felt like I couldn't ask too many questions because she seemed ready to move on. Her nurse did say she was extremely booked that day. She continuously directed me to my patient portal, where all the information discussed would be available, but I wanted to speak to a doctor who could respond to my questions, not read written, generalized recommendations: I could easily do that for free using google. I heard other people in the awaiting room that day complain of a long wait. I do not mind waiting, especially when the office clearly stated to allot an hour for an appointment. I just didn't realize that I would only see the actual doctor for 10 of those minutes. Overall, I felt like Dr. Christman gave me a lot of different options for my skin issues and was willing to… prescribe whatever medication I chose. However, I left with many unanswered questions and felt extremely rushed out the door.

My right hand had started to blister and turned very dark. I thought a spider or insect had bitten me. Dr. Christian diagnosed and treated the hand with a topical ointment and my hand back to normal within a week or so.

I chose Dr. Christman to see my son for his acne. She treated him with respect and directed her explanation to him. She presented information and treatment options in a clear manner and answered a lot of questions from both my son and I. She presented the options and then let him think about the choices he wanted to make. She supported the timetable he chose without pressuring him. She seems so empathetic to the trials of a teenager with acne and how it affects his whole being.

I have been seeing Dr. Christmas for over 7 years. She has always been professional and thorough in her exams. She looks out for my best interest and has also been extremely patient with my children and understanding of their concerns when she has had to do a procedure on them. Appointments have been easy to make and wait time is minimal. Highly recommend!

DO NOT BRING YOUR SMALL CHILDREN HERE! Dr. Christman has zero bedside manners, criticized my toddler for drawing on the table paper liner using a pen one of the nurses gave him to distract him while we discussed his condition- last time I checked, you claim to be a certified pediatric dermatologist??! Dr. Christman was cold, had zero interest in getting to know my son (she yelled at the nurse about this pen right in front of me!), and was completely apathetic to our concerns. There is ZERO child-friendly amenities anywhere in this office and in the patient waiting area. We waited close to an hour to be seen, 30mins after the appointment time, and there was nothing to keep my toddler entertained during that painful hour in the waiting room. 9 out of 10 patients here are elderly, I was completely fooled by her website infos and should've listened to her horrid Google reviews and avoided this place. I brought my son here to seek expert opinion on his skin condition, and instead, we got… a 3mins examination by her and the other dermatologist sharing the practice (she couldn't diagnose my son herself, mind you!). They looked at my son's skin, asked a handful of basic questions then walked away, another 5 minutes later, she came back and suggested a biopsy - for a less than 2yrs old toddler, really?! At the blink of an eye? When I tried to consult her on his condition given his history, perhaps there are other non-invasive options we can consider first? She immediately replied "look I have 3 other patients ready to be seen by me and I don't have time for this. You can think through the procedure in your own time. In my 30 yrs of experience, I recommend a biopsy." Wow! How about addressing questions from your current patient first? Where is your empathy?? Also I find it ironic that her "30 yrs of experience" led to a fat zero and she is recommending a nonspecific/potentially inconclusive and yet invasive procedure to us. After being kept in her office for almost 2 hours, I learned absolutely nothing new, except that I don't trust a word out of her mouth and lost all respect for her as a physician. She actually offered to "write a note" for me, uhh - to document that you were irrelevant? Shame on you Lisa Christman! You don't deserve to serve this noble job and the hippocratic oath!! No sensible parent should want to bring their children here to be seen! Avoid this place at all cost!!

Not a great place to be treated. She was difficult to get an appointment with, tardy for our appointment without apology. She was arrogant, curt, and a bit rude. She doesn't care to listen to you, she just walk in, takes a quick look at you and gives you a diagnosis. Spent about 90 seconds with me. her staff were rude, unfriendly and much like her. The entire practice seemed to be sitting on pine cones. Newil will go back or refer anyone.
