Dr. Lisa Dabney, MD

I was referred to her through my primary physician. I had pelvic pain and trouble urinating. They did a urinalysis and said that I had blood in my urine. She did a cystoscopy and found that I have a condition called urine retention. I had never heard of it. I asked: Q: is this life threatening A: No. Q: can it be treated surgically A: maybe, sometimes, probably not with you. Q: Is it because I have diabetes? A: Maybe Q is there medicine? A: Not really. Think of it as a prostrate problem. The bladder is thickening and it is hard to get the pee out. (I am a woman) Q: Is this why I am uncomfortable A: Yes. I think you have had it a while. I do not think this is an infection. Q WIll I just be uncomfortable going forward? A: Yes, but come to me if it gets worse. So I left, uncomfortable with no course of treatment. Within a few months, it got worse. I tried to reach her by phone 3 times in one day and was on hold for 1 hr. total. I ended up seeing my primary care physician and got put on… some meds. It got worse over weekend. Urine had backed up into my kidneys. I went to ER and was catheterized and admitted to the hospital for sepsis. I received a uro dynamic test after I was discharged and taught how to self catheterize. Unpleasant but easy and manages the condition. Had Dr. Dabney given me a test, taught me about catheterization, I could have avoided sepsis, hospitalization, and enlarged bladder that won't shrink. She did not cause the retention but she did not treat it. I am furious with her.

Dr. Dabney was very patient in explaining my condition. She presented me with few options and listened to my concerns. I felt very comfortable with her. She has a wealth of knowledge and over 20+ years of experience. What a joy to find a doctor, in today’s medical rushed world, who listens, cares, and makes your health a priority. Thank you Dr. Dabney- you are truly exceptional ??

Calm and knowledgable.

I have been seeing Dr Dabney for about 12 years now and even though I live out of state I fly in to NY for all of my gyn needs. She is honest, patient and highly competent. She tells it like it is and listens to my concerns and answers my questions cogently and completely. That is why I’ve trusted her twice with surgery. I have gone to other doctors in California where I work and they’ve all driven me back to Dr Dabney because few doctors care more about patients than having another surgery under their belt like she does.

This Doctor Lisa Dabney is a patient's worst Nightmare She is there worst Doctor I have ever came across IN MY WHOLE LIFE TIME. PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM HER. Office can't find appts. I call to confirm and when it's finally confirmed doctor didn't show up. Didn't care that it was for my senile elderly mom who traveled 75 blocks to see her. Don't think she cares much about keeping her word with Medicare patients, maybe she does better at her private practice on 59th St.

I liked Dr Dabney was personal and easy to chat with. Made me feel comfortable Covers a few disciplines so that made it easy to deal with double feminine problems

Responsive, thoughtful about decisions. Came for 2nd opinion and decided to become a patient.

Spent a lot of one-on-one time with me. Did the history and tests herself, instead of having a nurse involved. Spent tons of time answering my questions. Excellent doctor - would definitely recommend.
