Dr. Lisa Eng, DO

I have been a long time patient of Dr. Eng's for many years. She always makes me feel comfortable and takes the time to answer all of my questions and address any concerns. During a routine exam, she felt a small mass in my breast. Though my mammogram came back negative, Dr. Eng insisted that I get an ultrasound anyway. I went thinking it would be nothing since I have always been in perfect health. It turned out to be cancer, and was caught early enough to have just a lumpectomy and avoid needing chemo. I know without a doubt that her experience, intuition, and true caring for her patients saved my life, and I am forever grateful. Many doctors would have just went with the mammo results and said I was fine. If you want a doctor who truly cares about you, go to Dr. Eng. She is the best. I have also referred my friends to her and every friend who went to Dr. Eng loved her and became a regular patient.

I agree with the other reviews detailing the unprofessionalism of the support staff. They don't speak English and they do not understand English preferring to interrupt with general policy rather than listening to the request. The midwife is no better in the attitude department. When I asked to speak to the doctor I was asked "what is your problem?" To which I responded " I might be having a miscarriage and need the results of my blood work." There was no care or concern in their approach. You cannot get a hold of the doctor without getting the third degree. As if having a high risk pregnancy isn't bad enough you get to be treated in the most uncaring way. I am writing this not only because I was promised a return call about my results and never received one but also because I recently found out that through their negligence I now have the antibodies for the rh factor which could ultimately cause a miscarriage in this pregnancy. How are they still in business???

I waited 2 hours and 20 minutes! When I made my appt, the person on the phone had the wrong chart and was telling me I was wrong, I didn't have to come I until November. Then she called me Blythe wrong name. I wasn't able to get an appt with my dr. Dr eng has reduced her hours in Brooklyn to one day a week. I got to the office which has now been literally cut in half. There were 6 people ahead of me. I sat for two hours and 20 minutes before I was seen. In that time, I asked for my cash copay back, I felt I was never going to be seen. When I finally was seen, the dr asked me why I didn't have more kids, what was I waiting for etc. this was after I complained about waiting so long to see him. The office wasn't clean, it was cluttered witch cartons. It had a warehouse feel to it. The exam room itself had furniture from and office in it, a file cabinet and cartons with exam supplies. This was just a terrible experience.

This doctor has a very abrupt way of talking to patients. She is too confrontational, does not stick to her specialty when giving her opinions about the patient's health care from other doctors, and can be generally overwhelming. Her staff does not speak English. She or they lost my biopsy and do not even remember if it was even done! While she appears to be knowledgeable and does impart information, I don't feel comfortable with her because of all of the rest of it. A very negative experience.

I was appauled when my results returned positive and I never received a call for a followup. This could have cost me my life. It was only when I called to schedule an appt for a family member that I received the results THREE MONTHS LATER. On another two occasions I did test and were given the results/diagnosis by secretaries and /or medical asst. THESE INDIVIDUALS ARE NOT QUALIFIED TO BE GIVEN OUT DIAGNOSIS OR RESULTS SO BEWARE!!!! Does Lisa Eng really care OR is she more interesting in making money. I think the latter defines her.

As a patient of Doctors Eng's for over 2 years now I would like to add my opinion to the pile of, sadly but largely, negative reviews. Yes, her office staff is horribly unprofessional at times but if you have tests done it is YOUR responsibility to call the office in two weeks - they will remind you of this fact several times, and it is posted on the walls of BOTH her offices, in several locations. Getting an Appointment with her is difficult as she mostly attends to surguries and deliveries these days, so for most follow up type appointments you will be seeing a midwife - of the two that I met, Rodriquez didn't even GET to the office until 45 minutes after my appointment was supposed to start (first of the day!!) and without apology for her lateness then proceeded to tell me My IUD must have fallen out without my knowledge since she couldn't locate it (it had NOT, I would certainly have noticed such a thing!); Osborne was to-the-point, and seemed knowledgeable on the two occassions I… met her. For all the staffing issues though, I will gladly wait for Dr. Eng herself - She has done several procedures for me, including a surgery and I was very impressed with her warmth and ability to explain, in depth, what I would experience. She was empathetic and very caring - so much so, that yes, if you aren't eating properly she will lecture you - but she always has the best interests of the health of her patients in mind! I generally don't have to wait more than 30 minutes for my appointments (much less than my regular Dr.) and Dr. Eng never makes me feel as though she is rushing to her next patient- she always has time to talk, and actually has a great sense of humor (which is greatly appreciated during those stressful visits). She's the best GYN I've had!

Overall the Doctors and Staff are professional and treat everyone great but the waiting time is lengthy with and without appointments

Getting an appt is very hard with this doctor, the staff is horrible and Dr. Eng herself has a horrible attitude. Will not go back again.

Staff are extremely poor at their job. I went to the office in preterm labor and was told I would have to wait a half hour because I didn't have an appointment. Also, I wasn't contacted for several months to inform me that my pap smear results were abnormal! You never get to see the doctor - I always saw the midwife and any concerns I had were never listened to or diagnosed. Don't put your health in her hands.

If the reception schedules a date with the wrong doctor, it's not the patients fault, it's the receptions fault. As such, the doctor should take it up with the reception, not with the patient. And the doctor behaving inappropriately afterwards was an especially nice touch.
