Dr. Lisa D Holmes, MD

I have been a patient of Dr. Holmes for nearly 20 years. my husband for about 15 years. About five years ago when my son was born we started using her as his dr. as well. At that time I found she was not really all that up to date with pediatric medicine and changed for him. In that time I have noticed a steady decline in the practice and her level of care. About the only good thing going for the practice is they offer many same day appointments so if you have a flu or something you do not have to wait weeks to get in the office. As for complaints I will start by saying things she specializes on listed here are wrong - she did NOTHING to help with my infertililty or conception issues, in fact when I followed up with her she was very confused and not well versed in treatments the Fertility Specialist I was seeing had recommended and they were pretty standard protocol. I am overweight and she has never had any recommendations or help with that. When I approached the subject I was… told to consider weight loss surgery - which from what I know about it (and a dr. that specializes in it SHOULD know) is that is never a first suggestion, insurance will not pay and many weight loss surgeons will not even see you until you have spent 6 months to a year trying other methods. Her answering service is HORRIBLE I do not call dr.'s after hours much I think I have done so three times in my time with Dr. Holmes but TWICE - once when my three month old son was spiking a fever not responding to medicine and another for a health issue of mine I had called after hours and NEVER received a call back. Ended up at the ER and during my follow up she asked why I had not called first before going to ER and when I said I did she had no record of my message. Many times in the last two years she repeatedly sends meds to the wrong pharmacy (things I need immediately gets sent to the mail order which takes weeks, things I just need a 90 day refill she sends to CVS and it gets denied because my insurance only allows 30 day supply or less filled at a local pharmacy.) And this new policy of wanting a separate visit to refill your meds when you are already there for a physical is ridiculous it is a waste of my time and her money. I understand a med check at the 6 month mark but an annual physical should be a complete review of your health and the medical protocols you are on including meds. The time she spends with patients is rushed. My last physical had several questions, but I asked about three concerns and her response to each one was to look at her watch, then tell me it was just because I was now over 40! I really don't think gaining 25 pounds in under two months is simply a matter of age and would expect a better answer from somebody that claims to specialize in weight loss. in the end my last physical left me with unanswered health concerns and shopping for a new doctor.

I really like Dr. Holmes. She is very pleasant and thorough and always remembers the names of my family. She also does cosmetic procedures, and I went to her to remove sundpots on my face and excess hair.
