Dr. Lisa Beatrice Laya, MD

Dr. Laya is wonderful! She is thorough and knows her stuff! Her staff is not quick to call you back in emergent situations. Her receptionist is particularly rude and unwilling to schedule appointments if you need to be seen before an already scheduled appointment. She acts as it is too much trouble to check with the doctor!

I was a regular patient of Dr. Laya & the Summit Hospital where she admitted me often for severe UTI infection in the hospital. So we had a good rapport with one another. She came into my room one day this week strangely different. She was very rude while accusing me verbally of being there “seeking drugs” because my arm was hurting severely from a previous recent rotator cuff/bicep surgery just weeks before. This simply wasn’t true. I agreed an opioid medicine work best for pain, but also Tylenol would be ok. I saw her later in the hall and ask if we could please talk and she quickly dismissed me saying she was too busy and didn’t have time for me. As being a sick patient, I felt so unwelcome, I wanted to leave as soon as I could. My experience at this hospital has been good overall but based on this experience I never want to go back to her as a doctor or this hospital again for treatment. They lost my professional expectations of them and their explanations just don’t add… up.

Per HER hospital notes, my dad needed a follow up appt. Oncology doctor also insisted he be cleared before starting radiation. No one answers her phones or returns calls. Even when we asked Oncology Dr. To intervene--nothing. Took call to hospital patient advocate to get us "worked in" three weeks after discharge.

Dr.Laya is a great Dr. I have have been a patient there for several years and I don't have any problems with Dr. Laya or any of the staff

Dr. Lisa Laya claims she is not afraid to treat Lyme Disease, however she does not take the time to study Lyme via ILADS protocol. She is very stubborn, Unknowledgable, and unprofessional.

unfortunately I see a lot of specialist right now and out of all that I see dr. laya , her nurse and the rest of the staff as well are by far the most compassionate that I have encountered ...

She was willing to treat me for Lyme disease aggressivelyy when most doctors won't. She spends all the time I need with me and has a caring bedside manner. She has a good understanding of how hard Lyme is to diagnose with bloodwork and listened to the whole story and my symptoms to make her diagnoses along with the limited bloodwork proof. Most ID docs aren't willing to o beyond a few weeks of oral antibiotics but she is willing to do more if needed. She also gave me a referral to an exellent neurologist to assist with some of my unusual symptoms. Definitely recommend her. I love her nurse as well-wonderful bedside manner and so helpful.

I have been under the care of Dr. Laya for the past 4 months and I have been very disappointed in the professional attitude and bedside manner of her and her staff and their lack of time of the essence. I had a very serious medical condition and upon requesting for a second opinion. I couldn't even get the her or her staff to fax my medical records to another referred physician. It took them four days before I had to get my medical records personally and she wouldn't even place a professional curteous phone to the referring physician regarding my condition. It's a shame that, this kind of attitude still exists in our medical community before the health and well being of the patient. I thought that patient care came first. Sadly disappointed.

Listens well. Asks pertinant questions, and makes necessary lab tests to diagnose problem. Explains lab results and causes and treatment of your disease. I was finally able to find a M.D. who would listen to my history and listen to what my opinions were about my problem.
