Dr. Lise Jeannette Tardif, MD

I advise against seeing Dr Tardif. I preface this review by mentioning that I am a pulmonary critical care physician practicing locally in the same clinical service area of the AFC Urgent Care in Marlborough, MA. My wife brought my son to see her at AFC Urgent Care in Marlborough, MA. He had been home from school for two days with fever and concerning respiratory symptoms. As we were trying to avoid overloading urgent care and bringing him in unnecessarily, we waited 2 days before bringing him in to be seen as his symptoms persisted. At urgent care, Dr Tardif diagnosed him with an illness that required antibiotics as well as around the clock acetaminophen and ibuprofen. She provided him with a note excusing him from school for only that day in which he was seen by her at urgent care. She, inappropriately, refused to write the note excusing him from school from the time the illness began two days earlier. Given the symptoms he was experiencing when Dr Tardif saw him, a reasonable… physician would conclude that it was likely that he was too ill to attend school in the 1-2 days prior to being seen by her at urgent care. She would not relent and provide the note that his school required. As a physician who writes similar notes for patients very often, I can tell you that this is unacceptable. Dr Tardif should understand this. While she may or may not be competent clinically, her lack of understanding regarding the accepted practice of providing work and school excuse notes makes me wonder what else she does not know. My advice to patients in need of an urgent care visit in the Marlborough, MA area is to avoid being seen by Dr Tardif at AFC Urgent Care, particularly if you are going to need a return to work or school note.
