Dr. Livio Romani, MD

Dr. Romani and his staff (specifically Lois, the receptionist and Yudit, the nurse, and the entire staff at WVU Same Day Surgery) were all I could have hoped for before, during, and after my gall bladder surgery. From the first visit with Dr. Romani, I felt listened to and never rushed as he calmly answered my many questions and inquired about my past medical history-he truly listened. His bedside manner just before and after my surgery was friendly, compassionate, and very professional. I felt confident and safe in his hands as did my family members. Everything went as described and I healed beautifully thanks to Dr. Romani. If you are looking for an experienced surgeon whose medical knowledge is vast, one who treats the whole person and takes the time to be caring even while maintaining a very efficient office, Dr. Romani is the surgeon you should consider.

I cannot believe how well he treated me, how kind he was with my wife, and the specialist he referred to me. My life has changed, all for the better. Though I would not say many good things about the hospital he works at (the doctors my wife and I have trusted but now are gone) I will always go back to him.

Dr. Romani was handling my case over the weekend at Frederick Memorial Hospital while the doctor assigned to me was gone over the weekend. He did not do regular rounds. In order to speak with him I had to make multiple requests to my RN who then had to escalate my request to the charge nurse who then had to escalate my request to the hospital manager. When he finally showed up to speak with me some 8 hours after my initial request we had to spar verbally for a while before I could get any information from him. His nature was combative and arrogant. Additionally, while he managed my case, it appears he did little to move it forward. He was not timely in his review of a critical report from a procedure I had waited a couple of days to be performed. Timely review of this report could have shortened my hospital stay. He did not order bloodwork to be performed. I find this baffling as bloodwork results are one of the main indicators of progress of treatment. If you come under Dr. Romani's… care, be prepared to be dealt with at his leisure.

I don't understand why anyone would be so negative about Dr. Romani! There's a reason HE is the doctor and the patients are NOT. The only thing I can think of is (I am fully Italian as well) is that sometimes he is very confident in his answers. He always provides support and facts, and when a patient is over reacting he will tell them not to AND why. I had emergency surgery and was stuck in the hospital for several days so it was very chaotic with my treatment, but he was so re assuring. He gave my family his business card and cell phone number if I had any concerns or anymore emergencies while he was gone. I loved that he safety pins his wedding ring to his surgical suit. I highly recommend him.. He's a very busy man but he is full of knowledge and such a pleasure to have especially for emergency surgeries!

Never would see this Dr

Dr. Romani has been very professional, personal, courteous and friendly. Explained medical condition in layman terms. I found him to be exceptional and would highly recommend him.

i would not recommend this dr to anyone he is very rude and has a terrible bedside manner.

he is a good dr as long as you dont have a wound that does not heal then he tells you its all in your head, and you are the cause of the wound not healing and if you are a woman he talks to you like you are a dog, and downs you. then when you do what he tells you to thats not what he said. you just have to take the chance and hope you dont have a problem otherwise you become the problem and he just wants to dismiss you as a patient

I am very satisfied with Dr. Ramoni. I called his office on Monday, I got an appointment on Wednesday, on Thursday, I had surgery for a hernia repair. Dr. Ramoni was wonderful. I am very satisfied, with everything he has done for me, him and his staff were very courteous.

Dr. Romani was called to help care for my husband while he was hospitalized w/ severe pancreatitis. Dr. Romani was kind and patient and took the time to explain everything very thoroughly to my husband's father when he was asked. He put our minds at ease and was very thorough. I am grateful for his presence in our situation.
