He works with the patient’s regular clinician and other specialists to provide skilled and compassionate care. Dr. Van Essen chose to become a doctor because it allows him to use his interest in science and biology in a career that positively impacts the lives of others. He grew up in Lebanon and first worked at Samaritan as a scribe before attending medical school. He was eager to return to the Willamette Valley. Away from the office, he enjoys backpacking in the mountains, kayaking, fishing, playing soccer and spending time with family and friends.
