Dr. Lori Bunting Hudson, MD

Dr Hudson has been my gynecologist for 5 years, and during my appointment today she was as warm, caring, and professional today as she has been during the entire five years I have been her patient. I enjoy my visits with Dr. Hudson, because she listens to me, I trust her, and I feel comfortable talking to her.

At the VA in Tucson, I am a former patient. I was not alerted to an abnormal mammo until almost 3 weeks.I was only given a call by the nurse who could not tell me the findings. I was officially alerted there was an urgent need for follow up via registered mail from the VA. I had to go to the release of info dept at the VA to see what the mammo results officially were. I then received my first and only call from Hudson once a formal complaint was made. She still neglected to explain the findings and told me I was making a huge mistake by switching my care to Banner. I begged her to sign the diagnostic mammo order the nurse had sent on my behalf so I could find out if I had breast cancer. As I write this, she has not signed the order. I am at the 23 day point as I write this. I carry the breast cancer gene and have a significant family history. The lack of communication is unacceptable. I just want to know if I have breast cancer...I'm still waiting...

Be VERY careful about letting this hospital care for you. I had the WORST experience with Dr. Hudson, Dr. Westerband, and Dr. Warner. The only good thing about this office are the Nurse Practitioners. Of course, I can only judge my experience. Dr Westerband failed to listen to my concerns during my pregnancy which resulted in an emergency C section, where It later turned out I had Preeclampsia which along with many other things she failed to see. Dr. Warner was the on call physician who did my C-section and left the Placentia and sewed it to my incision in my uterus. Dr Hudson tried to cover it all up by telling me I could have cancer and some other off the wall disease, and wanted to do A hysterectomy. She lied in several of her reports where she advised me to see Dr. Sullivan, who refused to see me about this issue. When even the pathology report showed that it was retain placenta. All she could talk about is Harvard this and that and what she should of said, was "I'm human, and I… don't know what's going on." Instead she lied! I went for care at another Physician and he was blown away. After 3 surgeries I'm finally better, and well I didn't have to have a cover up hysterectomy. I understand everyone has different experiences, but just do research and get a second option. Physicians are not always right. When I received my hospital report, nothing about the overdoing of magnesium medicine that was given to me, or that I lost all of my reflexes and control. THIS HOSPITAL IS HORRIBLE!

Doctor Hudson was my doctor for numerous years before i got pregnant with my daughter. I had horrible endometriosis and she was a wonderful doctor!!! I even went through surgery with her and everything went just fine. The moment it all changed was when I got pregnant. She seemed more distant and cold. Our appointments were very short and to the point absolutely no bed side manner. I ended up having gestational diabetes with my little girl and was having issues keeping my glucose numbers under control. I was assigned a diabetic counselor and it was her recommendation that i be put on bed rest to control my sugars and contractions. I worked a very stressful job and couldn't take breaks to eat snacks to control my sugars. When i was at home i could control them just fine. I was about 32-33 weeks when i brought the paperwork to her from my counselor and Doctor Hudson said absolutely not!!! That we could try insulin to stabilize my sugars instead. I told her that i would rather not go the… medicine route first if i could stabilize them on my own. I also brought up the fact that I was having a lot of contractions as well. She brushed me off and told me i didn't know the difference between braxton hicks and real contractions. Then she lectured me about women's rights and how i was trying to work the system with unjustly asking her to go on bed rest. I was livid...my husband was livid. Well i switched doctors the next day and he put me on bed rest right away. Well guess what....those braxton hicks were "real" contractions. My daughter came almost 6 weeks early and that was with me being on bed rest. NEVER AGAIN.

I am a prior c-section patient, having had one less than a year prior. In this case, doctors and staff will tell you not to keep a prior c-sec in labor for too long since the contractions could cause tearing or hemorrhaging of the uterus. I had been in early Friday morning due to labor pains- about 5-10 minutes apart, low grade, minor pain. I was admitted with 2 cm dialation and 100% effacement, which later dropped to 90% (paper thin but no longer bulging.) After spending all day with absolutely no change to my cervix, Dr. Hudson (not my ob, but the Dr. on call for the night shift) came in and asked me if I'd like to stay in the hospital and be put on magnesium, or go home and stay in bed, returning if something happened. Having been on magnesium twice prior, and hating the stuff, and with no change all day, I opted to go home. I returned to the hospital about 2am that next morning (Saturday) in extreme pain from contractions that were less than a minute apart (pretty much one big… contraction with a spike every 30 seconds) and over a minute long. I was sent to triage, where the nurse checked me. I was 4 cm dialated and 100% effaced. The nurse called Dr. Hudson, who told her that 2 cm isn't really that big of a change, and that I was to be monitored, without pain meds, in triage- no admission. Now I pride myself on my pain tollerance. I'm covered in tattoos, have had many body piercings, have went through labor less than a year before, and on top of all of that- I'm a prior service Intel soldier with actual pain management training (in case of capture/torture). I was left screaming for over 2 hours before Dr. Hudson even came to triage to check me herself! Granted, I will say that 10 babies, besides my own, was born that shift, but NO ONE came. I actually had to demand to see her, or see the Patient Advocate, before she showed her face (within 10 minutes after the scary PA word.) She checked me, and assured that though it may take time, I would not be sent home that day without delivering my little one. While she explains this, I'm trying my best not to scream too loud. Slow breathing didn't help due to nausea and I never went through breathing training. I was barely able to focus on her voice. That is, until she tells me (and I quote) "You know, it really is a mind over matter thing. I think you can manage your pain better than this, and I'd really like to see you try." I'm sorry, but you do not talk to someone in full blown labor like that. I understand that she was trying to calm me, but I wanted to take my empty bucket upside her head. The only thing that stopped me was the fact that I really like the hospital (one bad apple, and all that) She left and the triage nurse promptly called the anesthesiologist who got me back to surgery, along with my partner, within 20 minutes. As she started the cut, the Anesthesiologist turns to me and tells me I had more scar tissue than they expected. This means the extreme pain I was feeling was the contractions tearing and tugging at my scar tissue, which is exactly why I was not supposed to stay in triage for 2.5 hours waiting for a doctor who doesn't have time for me. No, I would never advise anyone to go to Dr. Hudson. As a matter of fact, if she's the doctor on call, as much as I love the Women's Center, go somewhere else. I hear UMC is pretty good too.

Lori Hudson was on call the night I went into labor, she was not my doctor I was being seen at Grace Maternity. I live 2 hours from the hospital and my ob had told me to come in early while laboring because I lived so far. I got to the hospital when my contractions were 3-5 minutes apart and pretty painful, my doctor recommended for me to show up 5-10 minutes apart. Since I had not dialated much more than my last doctor appointment I was sent home... I stayed in town at a relatives house. 4 hours later my contracts intensified, but what worried me was chills I had gotten chills like I had the flu we checked my fever and it was 100.0 I headed back to the hospital. I still wasn't dialated anymore but my baby's heartrate was lower than before so I was admitted. I was put on oxygen and hooked up to monitors. Baby's heartrate was in 160s the whole time I was told this was ok (eventhough it was previous higher at doctors appointments) started to get chills really bad but they said I had no… fever eventhough it was recorded as 99.0 - 100.0. I guess it has to be over 102.0 to be considered problematic (according to medical records) Something inside told me to get the epidural so I did, and my labor finally started progressing i was at 4.5 cm (started at 3.5)Then my baby's heartrate dropped. was on all fours trying to stabilize it.. it was down in the 40s. I was told that since his heartrate is stabilized now everything will be ok. My husband called Lori Hudson she was at home she said that she didn't need to come in because I wasn't really in active labor despite the decel in baby's heartrate. My baby's heartrate continued to decel low into the 60s back up it deceled about 10 times. I still had not seen the doctor! I demanded to see her the nurse told me that my baby was ok because the heartrate was going right back up ( it only stayed down in the 40s for a few minutes the first time everyother time it went back up) I felt like I was in a nightmare something was wrong with my baby and no one would do anything about it! Finally 3 hours later the doctor came in said that baby wasn't going to go through labor, she broke my water and meconium was present. I needed a c-section. When my baby was born he was blue, had an apgar score of 1 was not crying. Then I finally heard him coughing it was so sad no one would talk they just said he was beautiful. My husband went with baby to nicu. He had meconium aspiration and had to be on a ventilator. He was in the nicu for 13 days. I feel this would have never happened to my baby he would have never had to go through this if the doctor was there and did her job. She doesn't care and shouldn't be in practice. She never went to see how my baby was doing. Never came back to see how I was doing just showed up told me when my 6 week appointment was and left. I HATE her for what she did to my baby. My baby is 6 months old today and is a happy healthy baby now! I am so thankful that God took care of him in the NICU and he is with us today. PLease stay clear of Lori Hudson she is a horrible doctor.

I saw Lori Hudson on a Wednesday and was scheduled for an emergency hysterectomy on the next Thursday. The office lost my biopsy and still made me have the operation. Since she did not have my insurance information correct, the hospital tried to kick me out at 5 a.m. the following morning while I still on IVs. When Lori came to see me, she refused to look me in the eye and at the pain in my stomach. She also refused to give me proper pain medication, other doctors had suggestion. One week I was in the emergency room, because she did not take care of the bleeding issues. Today I saw my new gyn and when she looked at my insides she said "Oh my God" - it appears that the way I was sewn up was horrible and I have pockets where she missed doing work. Do not see this woman - she does not care and should not be practicing.

I'm post-menopausal. Started having really heavy bleeding, so I made an appointment at Grace Clinic with the first physician who could see me. That was Dr. Hudson. I had time to check about her on the several sites that rate physicians. She got some low scores, which gave me some doubts. Of course the sample size was small. She examined me in her office on Wed afternoon and immediately sent me over to the Hospital Emergency Room. They did an ultrasound. Dr. Hudson had worried about the amount of blood I was losing, so they were ready if that was a problem. Thursday morning, she called me. Not a staff member, but Dr. Hudson herself. I had a big fibroid that was causing the bleeding. She said she was pretty sure she could get me into the hospital on Friday for a hysterectomy. I then had to talk with the Grace staff to work out the details. They were all wonderful and so patient with me. So I went in for the operation on Friday. Dr. Hudson was going to try to do the… hysterectomy without having to make an incision. She had also consulted with one of her colleagues about my condition as to the best approach. That was essentially a second opinion. My fibroid was going to be hard to get out because of its location and size. I really appreciate doctors who will talk with one another if they have an unusual case. I was an unusual case. Dr. Hudson did have to make an incision, but it was only because she had no other choice, not because it was easier for her just to cut into me. When they got me into the operating room, after they anesthetized me, Dr. Hudson made sure they situated me as best they could because I not only had that fibroid but I was suffering from severe sciatica in certain positions.I got the impression after reading some comments from others of her patients that she doesn't care. That's baloney. She is definitely a caring physician. Now she won't baby you. That's not her style. But I much prefer a physician who will give me the details I need to understand what's going on with me. That's Dr. Hudson. She's very analytical. She takes your condition very seriously so she can come up with the best possible treatment. I have complete confidence in her BECAUSE she takes the time to explain and what she says makes sense. And you can just tell that she worries about you and wants to do what's best. And she did a great job with the incision. It will hardly be noticeable after awhile. And it hasn't taken me very long to recover. I've had no problems, thanks to Dr. Hudson. I definitely recommend her and all the staff who work with her.

I was an "advanced maternal age" pregnancy at 44 when I sought out Dr. Hudson's care for my baby. I had a wonderful experience with her and all the providers at Grace--both the nurse practitioners and OB's. No one made me feel uncomfortable because of my high risk status and when I did develop problems, I was cared for in sympathetic and safe manner. My delivery went well and Dr. Hudson was right by my side when I had my 4th child. She even let my 10 yo daughter have a part in the delivery!! I would rec. Grace Maternity to anyone but I don't plan on needed their OB services again!

Not impressed. Rude, made me feel inferrior and commented on me being over weight. On to a new doc.
