Dr. Lori Beth Siegel, MD

I saw Dr Siegel three times this year, and after the last encounter, shocked, hurt, and needless to say, will never return. I do want to bring everyone's attention as to why I felt that way. The first couple of visits were fine. She has an assistant named Jeanine who handles her phone calls, she is extremely rude. Dr Siegel had prescribed a medication at my second visit, I was just holding off on taking it for some time, as I was going through several GI issues, and wanted to start once that was resolved, did not want to add another variable to the mix. Dr Siegel had ordered a nuclear medicine bone scan for me, which I did. The day after the scan, I received a phone voice message that said, "the bone scan says you have osteoarthritis". I was very concerned, I called back and asked where the osteoarthritis was and what were the implications, as this is the first time this was diagnosed for me, and I was really scared. Jeanine said she did not know where the arthritis was and she… provided me with an appointment. My husband came along with me to this appointment, as we wanted to know what the prognosis was. She came in to the room, and asked me how I was doing. I explained all the GI issues I was going through, and some other pains I was going through. I also have fibromyalgia and have chronic UTI-like symptoms. Patients with fibro usually also have something called interstitial cystitis. I asked her if she could refer me to an urologist who could diagnose that for me. She heard 'neurologist' and gave me the name of a neurologist, which I discovered later. I told her the reason why I was slightly delaying taking the medication she had prescribed, and she agreed with me. The entire time she was just fixated on her laptop. I told her the main reason I came that day was to discuss the results of the bone scan. She seemed lost, did not find the bone scan for a long time. She kept saying "see this Dr I am referring you to (the neurologist), and take the medication I have prescribed", and then she abruptly left. I thought that she was going to come back. The assistant came and gave me a post-it note with the name of the neurologist scribbled on it. I was surprised and asked her if I could speak to her for a few minutes as I just wanted some clarification on the bone scan results. She asked us to wait. We waited for several minutes. She comes in, and she seems very annoyed. She yelled at me "You have a lot of issues, A LOT OF ISSUES. I do not know how to help you." I was completely taken aback. I was not even asking her to help with the other issues. I said what about the bone scan results and the diagnosis of osteoarthritis. She said " I don't know, bone scan means nothing, it is not a reliable test". Why did you ask me to spend my money and take that test then? And you have nothing to say about osteoarthritis and what I might expect in the long run and how I can slow the progress? She then said, "Just go to Mayo Clinic or something. If nothing can be diagnosed then you just have fibromyalgia". I was really disturbed for the rest of the weekend. I think that some steps should be taken against such a doctor, a rheumatologist, who is supposed to treat patients suffering from chronic pain, and who behaves this way, who shames a patient for being sick by saying that "she has a LOT of issues", who has no iota of care or compassion. This kind of behavior is absolutely not acceptable!

Dr. Siegel and her PA-C Katie have helped me more in the few months that I've been a patient than any other GP or specialist I've seen over the course of my life. Not only were they able to diagnose and treat the most severe of my issues, they have also helped me to find the underlying causes. They talk you through every test and the results in detail and make sure you feel like an engaged part of your own healthcare. I am so thankful to have found a doctor's office where I feel listened to and respected. I have hope for my future for the first time in a long time and it's all thanks to Dr. Siegel, Katie and the rest of their team.

I have been a patient of Dr. Siegel for almost 5 years and in my opinion she is unparalleled in her profession. She combines her skills as an experienced, highly knowledgeable physician and consummate professional with her amazingly caring and personable nature. She fully engages with her patient and is sympathetic to their physical as well as psychological needs, incorporating both into an individualized care plan. During appointments she is punctual and attentive and is also extremely responsive to patientâ??s calls and requests. I have never met a more compassionate and kind-hearted individual as Dr. Siegel and feel blessed to have her as my doctor. I highly value and recommend her, as she is the true embodiment of what a physician should be.
