I would urge caution before working with Lorilee Critchfield. In my experience, she downplayed my perspective and genuinely gaslight me on what I was going through in my marriage. She placed the blame almost entirely on me. She told me she believed I had BPD, without any additional verification or even explanation. I gradually came to believe that I was fully responsible for every difficulty in my marriage which caused some understandable damage in my psyche. Throughout the entirety of working with her, I took her advice and did the “homework.” I deeply wanted my marriage to work and was willing to do whatever it took. After our divorce was finalized, I discovered that my ex-husband was exploring his gender identity and sexuality. After confiding in a friend about my experience with Lorilee, I learned of two other woman who had an identical experience. She seems to have a pattern of minimizing the wives’ perspectives while pathologizing them and conversely affirming the husband. Since… then, I’ve experienced sound counseling and gained a healthy perspective on what truly happened with the end of my marriage as well as unpacking the damage therapy with Lorilee did. It’s taken me a year to get to the point where I feel comfortable sharing, and I feel it’s my responsibility to warn others because I would have appreciated warning.

I think she is pretty well put together and she makes me laugh and cry all at the same time. Above average psychologist. And although she isn't too rough, she doesn't take crap off of anyone
