Dr. Lorna Mesina Barte, MD

This Dr. does not care about her patients, at least that is our experience. If I could rate her zero stars I would. My wife's psychiatrist moved out of state, and we were referred to Dr. Barte and she claimed that the previous Dr. told her not to change my wife's medicatiobns. This sounded strange since my wife was now being treated by Dr. Barte and not her previous psychiatrist, and she refused to do her own intake on my wife and make her own determination on my wife's condition and medicatio needs...so she took the word of a prior Dr. and didn't do her own job. In addition, after 3 weeks of requesting a prior authorization on one of the medications that the insurance was requiring from her and her office staff, I made one last attempt to get this sorted out and she FINALLY handled this. Then she claimed that she never received any calls from us and said that the pharmacy never faxed a request, when in fact the pharmacy has a record of faxing her office 13 times. This medication… is crucial to my wife's care and she was out of this medicine the whole time that Dr. Barte did not do her job. Very unprofessional and unethical, and she has no problem being dishonest with her patients. Last, she winds up unilaterally firing my wife as a patient claiming that my wife is dissatisfied with her services. Based o9n her reason, it is reasonable to think that if my wife was dissatisfied with her services, then my wife would make the decision to find another Dr. In her letter, Dr. Barte said that she would no longer provide medical care to my wife effectice immediately and that she would remain available for 2 weeks for emergency care only and she would refill medications for one month. In the meantime, she had already refilled on medication, yet she sent the prescription to the wrong CVS, eventhough she has been sending refills to the correct pharmacy for about 2 years that my wife was under her care. So my wife is removed from her care immediately and without my wife having another Dr. This in not only unethical, but is againsth the rules/laws put in place by the California Board of Psychiatry. Needless to say, we are putting in a complaint with the board against Dr. Barte. In a nutshell, she is unprofesional, unethical, immoral, incompetent, and dishonest.

I have been seeing Dr. Barte 15 years and she has saved me.

Please, believe me going to see Dr Barte is a complete waste of your time, money and sanity. You finally feel you can reach out for help and then it's even more difficult to continue once you realize she is not interested in helping you. I find it very sad, in her line of work that she can't try to help someone who is suffering. And the worse part is after you realize she isn't going to help you, you have to find a way to feel worthy of reaching out for help from someone else. Please don't give up like I have. God Bless

This is a doctor who has no patience. She's supposed to evaluate. She is trigger happy. Scares easily. And will try to commit you to a mental hospital with out proper evaluation which she tried with me. It did not work because the crisis team at the hospital deemed me safe. They said the doctor did not follow levels of communication. . and she violated my rights. So be very careful. She is nice if you don't have real problems. But if you do get a real problem she will commit you.

From the moment I first met Dr. Barte, I was impressed with her easy going manner, which put me at ease. I was going through a tough time and she explained the situation and how to over come the problem. She is very intelligent, but doesn't "talk down" to her patients. Great bedside manner and a nice staff of employees.

Dr. Barte is a lifesaver. I was refered to her from a doctor that was moving out of state. Im glad Dr. Barte came into my life. She is very kind and compasionate. I would highly reccomend her

Dr. Barte is the best. She listens and takes the time needed to be sure I understand her diagnosis, recommendations, medications etc.

From the moment I met Dr. Barte, I knew my life was going to taken care of. She is very intelligent, has a great "bedside manner" and treated me with respect and dignity. She prescribed the perfect medicine for my affliction. My primary doctor referred me to Dr. Barte. She's wonderful and I couldn't be happier.

If you are looking for a Doctor that is compassionate and kind keep on looking. I was referred to her by my own GP. I arrived 30 minutes early to fill in paperwork as they requested. I waited almost 2 hours in the waiting room as she took in other patients that came in after me. Multiple people came in and just spoke to the desk staff and to pick up their prescriptions of Zanax and were told that they had to reduce the quantity they were getting because the DEA was looking at them. Not something you really want to hear. When they finally called me in the first thing Dr. Barte said to me was "your answering machine isn't working". I said "I don't have an answering machine I have a cell phone with voicemail". She repeated her first comment as if I never said anything. She said we tried to call you yesterday and cancel your appointment. I said "I did receive a call from her office confirming my appointment. My appointment I made 2 months ago". Then she continued and said that she is… not taking new patients and that she on,y greats people over 65 (geriatric psychiatry). Which was a lie since I saw many people come and go that were well under 65. She was rude, insulting and had absolutely no kindness or compassion. She also lowered herself to gossiping about my referring Doctor speaking absolute lies which was extremely unprofessional. Also, please do not fall for her scam of having her do a DNA test. The cost is $3000 and totally worthless as I found out when I showed it to my new psychiatrist. I could tell you more reasons why you should NOT see this doctor, but I hope this was enough to keep you looking somewhere else

This was not a very warm dr, she was extremely rushed,had a very cold demeanor & seemed uninterested & preoccupied. I left the office feeling this was very unacceptable.
