Dr. Lorraine Ann Brown, PhD

I had a virtual appointment *on camera* and she dozed off multiple times. During the times she was fully conscious I did not feel she was listening. Needless to say, I did not make a second appointment.

I am afraid to write this review because her husband is a top lawyer - she shared way too much about her family in our sessions. She always talked about her son, hardly ever her daughter, which does not surprise me because she was so prone to call women the b word and ask me to act as a prop to a man's ego. She was not at all sensitive to the plight of racism in this country but went on a lot about Germans in WWII and what they did in Europe. What is the difference? The difference is we have an established tradition of civil rights that prevented the Jim Crow laws from muting into the Holocaust like the Nuremberg laws did but the intent was the same. I think she is very taken with herself and not at all sensitive to the plight of others that she would so often take the side of the man or say comments I found questionable about African-Americans. Like she would say - this person does this because she is a 'hostile black b*****' - why use the b**** word and why reference skin… color? Why not just say 'this person is hostile'? She really messed me up ...real bad... stay away.

Sucked! Revoke her license!

I've found Dr. Brown to be a compassionate therapist invested in my growth and development. She offers good suggestions and resources.

I took her advice and I ended up sexually assaulted and she did not believe me when I told her. When I explained further graphic details, she finally acknowledged maybe something bad happened. I really think she herself needs therapy - why would she roll her eyes and shame a patient who feels a sexual assault occurred ?

I do not believe she has her patients’ best interests at heart. I came away very traumatized. She is too much about herself and her opinions and does not have an open mind nor does she listen well.

She talked way too much about herself and made super-insensitive remarks that made me wince. She also acted like I had no right to assert myself or share angry feelings - meanwhile she herself had no problem saying whatever about anyone who bothered her. I feel like she had a hard time empowering other women, just herself.
