Dr. Louis Nessell Vogel, MD

Dr. Vogel is a Dr. for the Royal family (will not disclose to who) and an amazing doctor, whom I am referring all of my friends and family. He is the only one I would myself only. He has two boards: internal medicine and dermatology and is extremely smart and knowledgeable. He is a character, so be prepare to meet a funny and quirky personality. To some people it maybe amusing, to some weird, but he is a real deal dermatologist. He is also professor at NYU, that tells you something as well. If you have problem that no one can treat, he will! My friend, that I recommended, was treated for the lipomas, and only he, was able to removed them permanently and they are not coming back (unlike with other doctors). He made all other scars from it smaller, so cosmetically it looks better. Go to him, if you did not find treatment anyplace else. He also dose some cosmetic, but more into the skin problems, very rear when most dr.'s are focused on cosmetics.

This doctor is more interested in himself than in his patients. I had a bad painful problem as a result of his treatment and had as is the right of any patient to go for a second opinion. On learning about it this doctor dropped me through his staff without any interest in my condition and treatment.

Dr. Vogel almost makes going to the doctor fun. Competent, courteous, prompt, thorough & friendly.

I have been treated by several well known dermatologists in NYC but Dr. Vogel is the only one who effectively treated my rosacea. My rosacea was very bad and it was important that I look professional in front of clients. Dr. Vogel is extremely knowledgeable, caring and most importantly he makes me laugh.

Dr Vogel has been treating me for over 10 years. He is a great doctor. Smart, compassionate , always listens to his patient, and he is accessible . He follows up and does not send you off to a nurse practitioner . His office staff is excellent as well.

Arrogant, self-righteous. Little interest in hearing a patient out. Terrible bedside manner.

I had a serious skin trauma that created a somewhat urgent need to see a doctor. Going to the ER didn't make sense in my case (and they would've likely made things worse - the situation was very complex). When I called & got in to see him the same day, I thought - ut oh, he must not be very busy / very good. Well - wow was I wrong. The reason I got in (I think) was because he's extremely nice (as is his staff) & after they heard what happened, they found time for me...unlike other dermatologists who told me the first available appt was in 2 mos (not so useful in an urgent situation). This may sound simple to say - but right off the bat, it was obvious he is extremely smart...not simply a person who is looking for a quick diagnosis and exit. He listened & understood the complexity of what had happened to me...which was a bit beyond anything you'd find in a basic dermatology textbook. I was extremely nervous about what was going on, so he had to repeat his instructions about 5… times, but he didn't seem to mind or send me off to a nurse / PA like many doctors do. He didn't rush out of the office after 8 minutes either. He was truly very caring, intelligent, and articulate in his explanations of my situation. Also, he was very honest that he couldn't give a full reassurance about my situation since it involved another medical condition (and medical specialty) - so he asked his own staff to call another specialist for me while he continued the visit. I have never seen that happen before! It was like the Ritz Carlton of medical care. His staff was also incredibly nice, even making sure the room wasn't too cold & letting me sit in the waiting room for a while to make calls. Also, his fee for an intake visit was not an absurdly inflated number - so I could have even paid cash if I had to. There's an annoying trend for doctors to charge $500 for new patient visits, and even though I had insurance - it was interesting to me that he didn't charge anything near this (which insurance contracts always reduce anyway - so this practice just hurts the uninsured). Again, I think this is the sign of a person who simply cares about other people and is a doctor for the right reasons. I could probably write another 3 paragraphs but I think you get the idea!

when i first met him 25 years ago in the empire state building, he diagnosed a skin problem within seconds, that other doctors had misdiagnosed for years. whenever he says "let's take a speciman to send to the lab", unfortunately, he has been 100% correct that it was a carcinoma. a great doctor!

The right doctor for someone with serious skin issues, ie someone with a tendency to skin cancer, not sure he would be as good fit fro some looking for a society doctor to help with botox, cosmetic type stuff, he is a real doctor for serious isssues and i trust him far more than the society "let me sell you a new treatment" knid of doctors
