Dr. Lucille Nichelle Alexander Martinez, MD

I saw Dr Martinez when she practiced medicine in New Mexico. Throughout my time seeing her, she was dismissive, airing on blatantly rude, and seemed to rush through appointments. I’m glad some people on vitals have had better experiences with her. Perhaps she was “off” during the time I saw her. I feel compelled to write a review, because I wish I could’ve used the time I worked with her with another doctor. This would’ve made me feel much more at ease and comfortable throughout my pregnancy.

I saw this provider for an appointment regarding extreme pain during penetration. She was aware of this, and advised me to refrain from taking any kind of pain med, as she wanted our first appointment to be a consultation. When I arrived at the appointment, she walked in and expressed that she wanted to do an exam. I firmly explained that this wasn’t what was agreed on, and that I’d likely not be able to tolerate it without meds. She rolled her eyes at me and asked if I really needed pain medication. It was like she didn’t remember (or care) about anything that was said prior. She was unsuccessful in conducting a full exam, rolled her eyes several more times as I was grimacing in pain, and suggested that I masturbate at home to “ease tension”. This practitioner has horrific communication and listening skills, and lacks basic respect for her patients. This was a profound waste of time. I rarely write reviews, but I’d love to help others avoid having the same experience as I did.

Dr. Martinez was the doctor on staff at Lovelace Women's Hospital on the night following a surgical procedure that I had with another doctor. I experienced complications, first presenting as a sudden and drastic drop in my blood pressure. Dr. Martinez immediately sprung into action, ordering a myriad of tests (including a CT scan) and discovering that one of my arteries hadn't been sealed properly, resulting in a grapefruit sized hematoma from it bleeding out. She then ordered a blood transfusion and performed emergency surgery to stop the hemorraghing, saving my life. A truly excellent physician who thinks fast on her feet and really cares about her patients. To say she's highly recommended would be a massive understatement.
