He was the best psychiatrist I ever had.

Closed office and left patients with no Doctor, with not so much as a phone call for people with upcoming appointments!!

Been around in MH care for several decades, so I've seen a lot of doctors while moving from place to place as a contractor. Most of those doctors I would rate very highly, as fortunately I have almost always had excellent care! Yes, I've come across a few odd ducks, but I only saw them once or twice at most. Otherwise, I've been thrilled with my MH care. From my perspective, Dr. Ewen is just okay. He prescribed my Rxs as my documented medical history records gave him proof of my current meds working for me. For that I give him 3 stars which I believe is fair. First, let me state, every doctor is not an exact fit for every patient. Every personality match doesn't always work out smoothly. Everyone has different needs. From my perspective, Dr. McEwen is distant, engages very little, makes assumptions, spends as little time as he can with each patient. I went several times. The last couple visits we barely spoke. No questions. If you are used to a more upscale office with… multiple types of professionals, you may be disappointed here. This is much like a typical clinic atmosphere. Dr. McEwen apparently works with a lot of drug addiction cases, so the rules of this office regarding Rxs are very strict. If you lose or misplace an Rx you are up the creek without a paddle. New scripts called in cost a fee. No e-prescriptions. During my visits, the staff was very authoritarian, almost hostile, once you enter the office. I disagree with this approach. Just because someone has these type illnesses does not suddenly qualify them for condescending, boot-camp treatment as a patient. We’re your customers. [Maybe, many of their patients are hard to manage?] I believe his niche clientele are jail cell patients who may need care or evaluations and drug addicts, for which I applaud him for his commitment to serve both these groups of hurting peoples. However, "my support team" which has been successful most of my time since being diagnosed, has been an attentive psychiatrist, central to my care, an excellent therapist, an on-board General Physician, family and friends who care and understand. This gives me peace of mind and helps me to be relaxed, stable and feel supported. Right now, I'm changing doctors because in my assessment, the quality of care I need is not present here in 2019. I had to change doctors because I went with Medicare Advantage and then found out I could no longer receive outpatient healthcare from my former providers after signup. Lesson here may be to triple-verify that any Medicare Advantage Plan does cover your MH inpatient and outpatients' doctors and therapists!

Dr. Mac saved my life and was with me throughout my life's toughest moments.I have great love and respect for him and his staff.

Dr. MceEwen refused to see me because I had been discharged from another psychiatrist. My original doctor prescribed me suboxone for over a year and as soon as I start having trouble reducing my dose they discharged me. Dr. McEwen wouldn't even see me because I had been discharged. That is criminal.

It is unusual to find a Christian Psychiatrist who is willing to deal with spiritual issues as well as medical ones. I am glad I found DR. McEwen.

Dr. McEwen is awesome. He has tough love for his patients and I appreciate him for everything. He has saved my life and my marriage. If you get affended easily, then you should not see him, plus, you need to grow up! He tells you like it is and most doctor's won't. I am very very happy with him and his staff.
