Lydia Shrier, MD, MPH

Dr. Lydia A. Shrier, MD, MPH, is Research Director for the Division of Adolescent and Young Adult Medicine at Boston Children’s Hospital and a professor of pediatrics at Harvard Medical School. Board certified in adolescent medicine, she specializes in adolescent and young adult health, with expertise in eating disorders, reproductive health, sexually transmitted infection prevention, substance use, and behavioral health research. Dr. Shrier earned her medical degree with distinction in research from Albany Medical College and completed her pediatric residency at Yale-New Haven Hospital, followed by fellowship training in adolescent medicine at Boston Children’s Hospital. She also earned a Master of Public Health degree from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. Internationally recognized for her research on adolescent risk behaviors, mental health, and digital health interventions, Dr. Shrier has led numerous NIH-funded studies focused on substance use …prevention, sexual health, and behavioral interventions for adolescents and young adults, and is known for her compassionate, evidence-based, patient-centered approach to adolescent healthcare.
