Dr. Gibbs has been my primary care doctor, since the 90's, I actually came to him at first as a business client to help with his business. Then he became my doctor although I have not seen him in over 5 years. I was never going to say why but since this has all happened and they seem to be offended that I have been seeing other doctors, well here is why: When a doctor comes into the patients room, and your there with you mother and father and the doctor looks at your mother and starts to tell your mother what the results are, that pretty much did it for me, plus I had no insurance after other positions held, and some doctors just flat do not deal with insurance companies to get their re-imbursements. Dr. Gibbs front office gals said that the visit for the letter that I needed would be $100.00. Fine I said. Mind you I called & made the appointment 2 weeks in advance, I simply needed a letter (after he examined me of course) to state that I have limited mobility in a shoulder where… surgery was done in 2012, by a specialist, it took me 9 months to recovery and plenty of therapy and pain meds. (I had insurance then) - (I initially reached out to that doctor but he had retired) I explained to Dr. Gibbs staff that I needed this letter in order to perform certain duties (which is assisting special needs patients or they would have no choice but let me go) I had to get this letter stating that I was not able to lift or handle combative special needs clients and had to take off a day with no pay, & drive over 100 miles to see Gibbs. Once arriving at the office, I filled out all the new paperwork with current issues, in between this Dr. Gibbs came out to the front desk smiled and waved at me (an hour later) lady at the front desk said, I'm sorry Dr. Gibbs can not see you. What???!!! no no I called 2 weeks in advance and made the appointment, front desk lady said sorry he cant see you. I replied Why not?, tell you what let me speak to him, cant his with patients ok, let me speak to the manager or nurse, manager came out and repeated he wont see you. Wait a minute this is crazy, whats going on?
Manager stated well we see where you have see other doctors before, and you haven't see Gibbs in over 5 years, ok I said, is that not why I am filling out new medical history forms? Manager replied, No sorry he still wont see you. Then why did I fill all this out??? Manager also replied we also see you have a lot of narcotics prescribed to you by other doctors. Okay by who and how do you know that? Well we can pull records from other providers and see that. Ok, let me see it. No we cant. What? Oh I know what it was about when I had shoulder surgery, and then when I had a really bad abcessed tooth, and they had me on pain med's, and antibiodic's, then at the free clinic I was actually hospitalized and given a pain medicine drip, because my face was swollen up, eye swollen shut & my throat was closing up, not to mention being in extreme pain! You've got to be kidding me, so you are basically calling me a drug addict in front of all these patients, and have not nor even asked the particulars behind it nor requested the reasoning behind it FROM THOSE DOCTORS, great great, not only am I going to loose my job after a year of looking, plus loose a days pay, & driving over 100 miles to get here, you further humiliate me by discussing this in front of all the other patients in the lobby. At that point I asked for all my medical records from day one on me, since he was my primary care doctor from the 90's, the manager said they did not keep them when they moved from Pin Oak to this new location at 19255 Park Row, Houston. I left the office sat in the parking lot, crying. How in the world can things like this happen, being a christian man like he has always claimed to be, like when I was overweight in the 90's and asked if he could he give me a diet of some sort, his reply was the best thing is to pray over it. Like I said in the title of this: WITHOUT WORDS
