Dr. Lynn Sharon Porter, MD

Dr. Porter is absolutely the best pediatrician that I’ve experienced in my 48 years. She is a great listener and really cares about her patients. My two sons have seen her for years and they love her.

I have been taking my children to Dr. Porter for 13 years and she is without a doubt one of the best pediatricians we have experienced. She is smart and caring and relates to children well. She takes her responsibility for your child's health very seriously. Her style is consultative, but she is decisive in her prescriptions - a quality I like in a doctor.

She has been my kids Pediatrician for 14 years. She is very understanding. Her office staff is very friendly and courteous. They always return my calls promptly. At night and on weekends you can get her on the phone for emergencies! I have always received excellent assistance and follow up for every emergency that has risen with my children. Only thing I hate is driving all the way into Boston. But it's worth it and I'm always in and out!

Unbelievable doctor. We schlepp in from Brookline because she's so good. Returns every call, available 24/7 (I have no clue when she sleeps.) and clearly knows her stuff. If the kids need acute care, either she or her partner will always see them same day. Clearly loves kids. Dream come true as far as pediatricians are concerned. Saw the posting about sending kids to the ER. Not sure what their experience was, but our kids come in sick several times per year and she only sent us to the ER once, when an EMT screwed up. My daughter was so sick that she had to stay overnight and get IVs all day when her blood sugar dropped precipitously. I'll take a cautious doctor any day of the week.

I travel from Peabody to Boston to have my daughter followed my Dr. Porter. I have never met such a caring, loving and giving doctor as Dr. Porter.

Dr. Porter is beyond AMAZING! My daughter has been a patient of Dr. Porter for the past five years. She truly makes me feel my daughter is her only patient. Dr. Porter is loving, honest, very accommodating, and I trust her expert opinion. We moved to Newton a few years ago but I continue to drive into the city because Dr. Porter is the best!

The Best!!!!

Went to Dr Porter for my son for over a year, and while she seemed OK at first, she was always quick to send us to the ER at any sign of trouble. After 2 unnecessary trips that always include IV's and other traumatic experiences, she wanted me to go a third time because she thought my child was too dehydrated (conclusion based on a 5 minute inspection) and it was the end of the day and she had to leave. I felt otherwise, seeing that he was recently holding down liquids, but she was insistent and wouldn't let me leave without saying I would take to the ER. Took home instead, (which was 1 block from the ER). Where I (MS biology), my wife (PhD biology), my brother (an EMT) and his wife (a doctor - not pediatric) all agreed he was not very dehydrated, was improving, and didn't need to go to the ER. Let Dr. Porter know this - she would not listen. She actually called child services on us to report abuse - of which we were, of course, quickly absolved. (The investigator even apologized… to us for the case!) In short, if you want a Doctor who is quick to send your child to the ER after a superficial examination (presumably to cover her butt from liability). Doesn't listen to the opinion of you or others, despite the fact that you care about the child and are actually closely observing the child over a long period (presumably because she cannot take a challenges to her authority and decision making) and then calls child services when she doesn't get her way (presumably for a combination of the 2 reasons listed above), then she's the doctor for you.
