Rude, screwed up my surgery , then blew me off

Apparently has problems. Did not have time to complete agreed upon procedures. At office visit he sent his PA out to tell me he couldn’t do anything else for (or to) me. Would not discuss face to face why he had not completed the procedures. Now other back surgeons will not see me. Family doctor still recommends him. The entire health system is corrupt and cover for each other.

I met Dr Gordon Whitbeck almost 20 years ago. I presented to him as a woman with constant cervical spine pain and dysfunction , a bad problem in my left shoulder and left side of my neck. Who knows why? Dr Whitbeck explained the diffuse nature of my situation, my DDD, and informed me that I was not a good surgical candidate because of that diffuse nature. He continued to follow me for 13 years , seeing me when I’d call for an appointment to discuss difficulties I would encounter. It was a full fifteen years before my spine problems matured(despite constant attempts to ameliorate via PT, chiropractic, massage, acupuncture and pain management.) to the point where a fusion procedure was indicated. The cervical fusion was four years ago and a complete success. Dr Whitbeck knew when it was time to intervene, for my quality of life and he suggested the surgery. Two years later, after also straightening out a wayward badly behaving knee , the instability in my lumbar spine, with… which I had lived all of my life, worsened to the point of no return so again Dr Whitbeck stepped it up and declared “THIS ISNT GOING TO GET BETTER ON ITS OWN!” and into the OR we went once again. A laminectomy and fusion later, he fixed the agony of that instability too. His timing is flawless, his knowledge impeccable , and he can be very entertaining in pre-op??. Dr Whitbeck is one fine doc and I owe him my life....I could have chosen to quit and sit in a wheelchair for the rest of this earthly ride but I chose instead to allow a great surgeon make me whole. THANK YOU????

He not only messed up my surgery & paralyzed my leg....then he blew me off .....worst Dr ever

I’ve never met such a rude Dr in my life....especially since he screwed up my surgery ....paralyzed my leg..... & his explanation was...something got squished!? Really!,?. Then he went on to be very rude to me ...thank god a found a new Dr that fixed what Whitbeck screwed up ! & his staff are the rudest people ever ....STAY AWAY

Dr Whitbeck and his team did an amazing job. Two days after disc replacement surgery I was pain free and feeling great! The entire team did an excellent job every step of the way. Dr Whitbeck and Jonathan Scott PA were very professional and also compassionate. They explained all options and actually listened to me and my opinions, wants and needs. I would highly recommend both of them and their entire team to anyone needing Spinal Surgery. ??

I had crippling back pain from a work related injury that I suffered many years ago. Dr Whitbeck’s office saw me right away and a PA got me “started” and ordered an MRI after my first appointment. I saw Dr Whitbeck 5 days later to review the MRI scan and he was so wonderful. He answered all of my questions and offered me a lot of options. I recently had surgery and I cannot tell you how great I feel. My life has completely changed and I feel 20 years younger! I’m sleeping through the night and the nagging leg pain and numbness is gone! I wish I had found Dr Whitbeck sooner. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

I was referred to Dr. Whitbeck for spine surgery. At the time I had lost my mobility and was wheelchair bound due to herniated discs and nerve pain. I awoke from the surgery with no leg pain and was able to walk again. I can't thank this man enough for giving me my quality of life back.

Had an emergency with a progressively worsening condition. Dr Whitbeck got me right in and added me to his OR day. He saved my mobility. I highly recommend him. He really cares for his patients and goes the extra mile.

After becoming unable to stand, sit, walk, without pain I visited dr. Whitbeck office, did the PT, pain management for almost 7 months, surgery was determined to be the only way to get relief from pain, to help get my life back. This would be my 4th back surgery performance and more intensive, Dr Whitbeck had performed 2 previous ones. I needed to be fused from L2 to SI joint, I was scared to death but had faith that dr . Whitbeck would take great care of me, I trusted his skills, knowledge, experience, I had recovered from my previous surgery able to return to my technical job that requires heavy lifting and bending. Before surgery dr Whitbeck took time to explain procedures, recovery time, and possible limitations to expect to both my husband and I. My surgery was successful, I returned to work after 7 months, it's been 3 yrs now my pain level is minimal depending on what I do, I'm off pain medication, and exercising, etc.. I would recommend dr. Whitbeck, even though he is… arrogant, has short bedside manner, but he is excellent surgeon that gets great results and that's what was important to me.
