Dr. Madhuri Kurup, MD

The first time Madhuri Kurup saw me, she KNEW I was a high risk, I already had suffered a stillborn due to hyperemesis gravidarum (what Kate Middleton had). I was to see her in order to be referred to a high risk OB, which she insisted rather adamantly that she stay my doctor; that she was capable. She was NOT! It seemed she viewed my high risk, a proving ground to her superiors. (A pregnant mom should not be used as a guinea pig to advance any persons inexperience.) I was admitted to the hospital, severely dehydrated, days of no food or liquids staying down, nothing left but bile. In past pregnancies, it took a few days of constant IV's to get me back on my feet. (Something as simple as an IV.) But she would NOT listen to what past HIGH RISK OB's had done. She instead told me that I needed to take depression medication (which I did not have, or EVER been told to be given by former OB's). I had a gut feeling NOT to do it. I calmly told her that I did not feel comfortable, that this… could affect my son. She callously replied, either way if I did not stop throwing up he would die. When I said no thank you for the second time, she became so angry; she turned my husband and told him that he needed to listen to her and make me take it. He said calmly that I had been through this before and he trusted my judgement. To which she had a meltdown that I had NEVER seen from a medical professional, she called in the nurse and told them to discharge me Immediately! The nurse turned to us with her mouth gaping, and apologized as this angry person bolted out of the hospital room. I quickly found a QUALIFIED HIGH RISK OB that said this should have NOT been prescribed. I found out a couple years later that there were lawsuits against the depression medication she insisted I take; it caused severe disabilities in the babies. I only hope that there were no other mothers that she pressured into doing this. Had I followed her protocol, I shudder to think of the disabilities my son would have suffered throughout his life. YES, there would have been an inferno of a malpractice lawsuit to provide for his lifelong care. She dodged a bullet, thanks to my gut feeling. I hope she learns one thing... LISTEN to your patients.

I moved here from Cincinnati six months before becoming pregnant and Dr. Kurup was recommended to me. On the very first appoinmet she had my husband scared to death because all she did was tell us what could go wrong with my pregnancy because I was 42. Beginning at about 20 weeks she would send me to the hospital after evert appointment for NSTs. She was always rude to me and treated me like I was an idiot (I have a Master's degree). For one appointment my mother, a retired nurse, was mowith me. Dr. Kurup treated with absolute disrespect. Now that I've had my baby I am never gping back to her.

Dr. Kurup has delivered both of my children, and continues to be my Ob/Gyn 6 years later. Both of my deliveries were a piece of cake, even with being induced 3 weeks early due to preeclampsia with my first. She is VERY experienced and knowledgeable and I trust her completely. I always feel comfortable with her. My only advice is to schedule check up appointments way in advance!

Dr. Kurup was back for my OB when my son was born. My scheduled OB was out of town. Dr. Kurup charged forth without listening to my concerns or explaining procedure. She did not listen to or honor my birth plan. I know many who feel they had a good experience with Dr. Kurup, and I think if you want an authoritative OB who will confidently direct your birth, then she is the one for you. But if you would like to be treated with patience and respect, look elsewhere.

The first time I met dr kurup I thought we connected and really liked her. When I came in the next time she said "it's nice to meet you". Letting me know that she didn't even look at my records to know she was the last dr I had seen. I am currently pregnant and during my first checkup she was sick and kept coughing without covering her mouth. I have been back twice since then and each time I get the feeling she doesn't care and just wants to hurry through her day. I am on this website to find a new doctor. And I am always waiting at least an hour to see her.

Dr. Kurup knows what she is doing. After seeing her in the office she arranged for a procedure for me. It could not have gone better. I feel better and will continue to go her. I feel she is one of the best.

Dr Kurup delivered both my kids and she is still my gyn. Dr Kurup is a great doctor, I trust her completely, she knows what she is doing and I would recommend her to every one I am close to. I would trust her 100 % in any emergency as she is very knowledgeable.

Dr. Kurup was very forthright and caring. She spent a lot of time answering questions and explaining my options. I had a complete hysterectomy without any complications and almost no pain. I went in one day and home the next. Dr. Kurup called to see how I was doing and my follow up appointment was routine. I was very pleased.

She was very kind. She was matter-of-fact, but not rude. If I didn't understand something, she would explain it to me without making me feel like an idiot for not knowing. I'll be honest, if I'd seen the reviews for her before meeting her for the first time, I never would have seen her. But I'm glad I saw these reviews after seeing her for more than a year as a patient. I'm very satisfied with my treatment by her. :)

I went to her for my first visit and I am already looking for a new doctor. I am not a small woman, and she wasted no time in letting me know it. After I had to repeat my medical history to a nurse and an intern prior to my exam, she came into the room and without any pleasentries immediately made me feel ashamed of my weight, made it quite clear that my visit was an inconvenience and that my exam was purely out of obligation. So, for those women out there looking for a caring OB that might be more understanding of why we can't all be tiny, keep looking!But on the plus side, the office facility is clean and well decorated, and the front office staff was very nice.
