Dr. Maha Toma, MD

Excellent physician. Very knowledgeable and understanding. The most compassionate physician I have ever seen.

OFFICE DOES NOT ANSWER PHONE CALLS

I have been a patient of Dr. Toma's for 8 years. She always provides her time, medical competence and compassion all in one visit. When I was in Maui, I broke my wrist. My generic ibuprofen looked so much like my BP meds that I basically took too many BP tablets. She returned my call (made at an early morning hour) calmed me, and gave instructions for possible reactions. Today, during the Covid-19 situation, she delivered the same quality care for a non essential situation. Thumbs up. Jana R. sonnikson LMFT.

I have been a patient of Dr Toma for about 2 years. She went thru cancer with me. I have to show my appreciation for referring me to some great doctors, also for doing a really well rounded check up. However I have never felt like she was caring. When I was in the depths of cancer and not knowing how to deal with it, I called her just to ask a question, she would not take my call nor return my call unless I went to visit her! Last time I went to see her after I was cancer free, she said couple of things to me which again left me feeling like I have to find a new doctor. I have a cousin who's MD and when I shared my story, he told me to drop her immediately.

I was played for a fool. She gave me a prescription and didn't approve it when my pharmacy called her. Never called me give me with an explanation for the denial and when I called her, didn't return my calls nor my insurance company's nor my pharmacist. She has a superiority complex (inferiority?) and has no bedside manners. Doesn't have control over her office and is rude and bossy. The worst physician I've ever had ranking below other doctors.| She is of inferior quality and refinement She is worst than is expected or desired; inferior.

Dr. Toma is not someone who should trust to be your primary care doctor. She is rude, inconsiderate, and rushes you through her visits. After one of my visits, I had a follow-up question for her. I left her many messages and she never called back. I called the office once more just to be told she would only talk to me if I made an appointment. $300 of office charge later and 5 minutes of consultation later, I ended up in the same place. Read the yelp reviews on the John Muir Medical Group in Lafayette and you will see that she has consistently over charged her patients and had treated patients rudely.

I am very disappointed. If you have a serious problem and you want answers, do not go this doctor. She is not willing to address the problem head on, but instead cuts you off when you are trying to explain the problem. She wants money and not answers.

The Memorial Hermann Medical Group is so large, so corporate and so concerned with the bottom line that the only questions they feel are pertinent are those pertaining to your insurance. How you are feeling...eh, that's just a sidebar.I had some testing done for an illness that arose out of the blue and, after days and many messages left, I never got called back, hence never received further information about the possible causes or even results stemming from my testing. If you want to fall through the cracks and feel sub-human, this is the office for you...otherwise, if you want to get real treatment, seek help elsewhere.
