Dr. Maha Louis Shak Tomas, MD

Dr. Tomas was referred to me. She's polite, calls me Ma'am, but limits every visit with me to under 15 minutes, saying the insurance demands it--a call to my insurance revealed that my insurance does not limit my doctor's visit to 15 minutes at all, and recommended I change doctor. Like other reviewers, I have experienced Dr. Tomas to be outgoing, and have witnessed her hugging patients (not me), be very jovial and warm with them (not with me), especially those patients who seem to be of Muslim/Middle-Eastern culture. At every appointment I have had with Dr. Tomas, I have waited 1 to 2-1/2 hours beyond my specific appointment time. I have frustratingly witnessed other patients go in and come out 45 minutes to hours later. When I tried, for the second time, to address Dr. Tomas’ 15-minute limit self-imposed rule at my last visit, she shooed me away, lowered her eyes, shuffled papers, looked busy at her computer, indicating her time with me was over and to leave, even though we had but… scratched the surface of the reasons for my visit. I am reluctantly changing doctor since her behavior makes it clear she does not care about me.

With several doctors over the years our insurance suggested Dr. Tomas. Both my husband and myself are patients. Finally, we found a Doctor that addresses our medical needs. Both Dr.Tomas and her staff are great members of the medical community. I feel justified with my opinion since I retired as a Medical Administrator.

Dr. Maha Toma's was one of the worst physicians that I've ever had. She didn't take my symptoms seriously, and had very poor bedside manner. One time, I had to call her because I was having a severe reaction, causing me multiple trips to urgent care, and she yelled at me stating "You always have a medical problem!" Then told me that speaking to me was going to cause her to harm others, and if somebody else got hurt, then it'd be my fault. Then she hung up on me. It was the strangest encounter. I left her care immediately! If you are of Muslim/Middle-Eastern culture, she and her staff are far more pleasant to you.

Moving on & my health is more important then a doctor who is disrespectful, discriminating, poor bad side manner, rushes through appointments, and Not an humanitarian!

I began working with this dr just over a year ago at a skilled nursing facility where she and multiple other MDs visit patients. She is compassionate, patient, and dedicated. After watching her diligently care for her patients, I am now her patient and I have switched all my family members to her care. I trust her with my health and well being.

Amazing / Sweet / Gentle / Kind /Thourough / Great Clinician Comforting to know that there are still physicians with the above qualities.

Hours do no accommodate the average working individual. You can't get in before or after work. Sometimes the office does not open until 10am.
