Placed me in danger during ect treatment. Now have anxiety and PTSD. Stay away!

Disrespected me, whole experience embarrassing

I am a 40 yr veteran of Nursing, this Psychiatrist demeaned and mocked me and tutored his underlings to do the same. I pray for him.

Aggressive interview style; rapid fire questions. His questions aren't even questions at all because he is looking for confirmation of his own perceptions. Arrogant, pedantic and prone to making rash decisions. Avoid him like the plague.

WORST DOCTOR EVER! I was not even the patient and I was literally overcome with fear while in the room with him. He has no compassion and talks or shall I say “dictates drill sergeant style” what the patient is going to do with a condescending tone. My husband went to AGMC for help and while there as an in-patient he did receive the care and understanding that one should. But as far as the out-patient program, let’s just say that Dr. Mansour did more harm than anything. It was the first time the Dr. had met my husband and thankfully I was there to witness this horrific nightmare. The Dr. meets with his students, whom he has do all of the leg work for him and confers with them just before meeting the patient. Strictly going by what his students have assessed and not even knowing for sure that they have made the correct diagnosis he meets with the patient and family. While asking me a question, he picks up the phone to multi-task and claims he can do two things at once. We… should have walked out at that point, clearly he cannot give the patient the attention they deserve. I felt as if we were being interrogated, my husband felt that he was ambushed by him. I was in complete and utter shock. It seemed as though Dr. Mansour was showing off for his students. The Dr. asked questions that he wanted yes or no answers to and sometimes it’s not that black and white. He did not want to hear how he was feeling or what he was thinking, he acted like the problems or issues that my husband was/is having are non-relevant. Isn’t that the definition of Psychiatrist: a physician who specializes in psychiatry, the branch of medicine devoted to the diagnosis, prevention, study, and treatment of mental disorders. He told my husband that he was going to fix him in 2 – 3 weeks! Why? Because that is all the insurance pays for! I left the meeting a nervous wreck and in tears. Needless to say, my husband will not be returning to the program. For the most part, you don’t get what you should from the program because they are always pulling the patient out of classes to fill out or go over your insurance.

Did not listen to concerns. I developed PTSD from the anxiety of the procedure. He wrote off my new ailments as me imagining them.

Didn't care that I was in distress during procedure. Permanent psychological damage. Nightmare.

This man is rude and tried to force me to speak to him along with students. I advised him that I wasn’t comfortable with that he kept asking me why and I said because I wasn’t comfortable and he asked why again and I repeated because I wasn’t comfortable and I have my rights. If I don’t want students in the room when I speak to the doctor I don’t have to and they should leave. He then tells no and that the students aren’t going to leave. He also told me I can find another doctor. That man should not be working with patients. He fits the stereotype of the mean and scary psychiatrist movies that treats the patients as if they have no rights, no say and must do any and everything he demands otherwise you will be subjected to torture! This man should not be treating patients.

I wish I had realized several years ago that I could write this review. Dr. Mansour was my daughter's doctor when she was going through emotional problems. My husband, my son, and I met with my daughter as a family with Dr. Mansour. Then he met with each of us individually. Now, let me say I am a well educated college professor who has been in the teaching profession successfully for many years, and I STILL shiver when I think of how he conducted an interview with me. AND I had nightmares after that interview, My husband and I have always supported our children. There is no drug, alcohol, or abuse issues in our family. At the "interview" my daughter sat to my right. Dr. Mansour sat at the other end of the room, while his two minions sat to my left, taking notes. Mansour literally blasted me with questions asking why I had not done this, and why I had done that. This was no discussion. I was literally on the condemned seat throughout this "interview". It was absolutely no help… to me, or to our family. I came away from that "interview" feeling like a total failure as a mother, that my daughter's issues were due to my inability to help her when she needed it. It is over 5 years later, and that interview is burned into my brain. And what about my daughter?---she completed the necessary "treatment" and never returned to him. Was she "cured": by him? No!~ Was she helped by him? NO! She survived that terrible time because she is strong, and because we love her. There are so few good psychiatrists available in the Akron area. That being said, his arrogance, his self-righteousness, his dated ways of "helping" patients lead me to the conclusion that if my loved ones needed this assistance again, he would be the last person I would agree to see. I seriously doubt that he will read this review, let alone take it seriously, which is very sad.

Dr. Mansour is by far the most arrogant and dismissive doctor I have ever encountered. I am a survivor of abuse by doctors and staff in an inpatient psychiatric facility. To give you an idea of my prior experiences, watch footage of The Stanford Prison Experiment.That is very close to what I went through. Within 20 minutes of meeting me, decided to require that I be hospitalized inpatient in order for me to receive any treatment whatsoever. When I tried to explain my sheer terror of being locked up in a psych ward due to the torture I encountered at the hands of so called mental health care professionals, he said "we'll make sure that doesn't happeneed this time. " He just set an example of how he would be that kind of problem by minimizing the things I wentered through. Not only that, he had no legitimate reason to hospitalized me. I repeatedly told him that I was not suicidal and had no desire to hurt others but that didn't matter because he already made up his mind and… misconstrued my answers to his questions to fit his own agenda. As it turns out, I have narcolepsy and not schizophrenia. I explained that I have had sleep attacks but he blatantly ignored this information. He didn't even acknowledge that I had spoken. His treatment plan would have made my symptoms worse. Not only that, I began having involuntary movements, trouble swallowing and other serious side effects. His plan had been to increase that medication to the maximum dose. This would have lead to permanent neurological damage. I am so thankful that I chose to walk out that day because his his willful ignorance is dangerous and would have cost me dearly. Dr. Mansour will not treat you with respect, he will degrade you. He will ignore you and will not inform you of the side effects of the medication he prefers. He doesn't discuss your concerns and treatment options with you. You do not get a chance to give informed consent and if you defy him he will put you out on the street. He has to wield the power at all times. This kind of willful ignorance and need to control makes Dr. Mansour dangerous. Go anywhere else besides Akron General for treatment because he presides over the entire psuch department. Cleveland Clinic is not all that far away and they are amazing! They listen closely to patient feedback and will work along side you to help you overcome obstacles instead of controlling you and convincing you he has saved you. My experience with Dr. Mansour haunts me. Every experience I have had at Cleveland Clinic has been amazing. Go there. They will help you and will not disregard what you have to say.
