Dr. Mahmood Akel, MD

My husband has been going to this Dr for years. He is very satisfied. I sat in a waiting room that has at least 6 old dirty plastic plants, leak marks on the ceiling, dirty windows, and Wall paper. They might think this doesn’t matter but the impression I have is a lack of caring.

Dr. AKEL preformed my galbladder surgery, I was terrified because I was afraid of having another stroke. He was very kind and listened to my concerns, eased my fears. Follow up is Feb. 8,2017.

I would never go to this doctor ever again

This man is an absolute horrible Doctor. Checked his background after being referred to him, and found he is not even board certified!! Never passed his exam! He also has had malpractice lawsuits (many) filed against him!!! I just am skeptical of why I was referred to him! Is there anyone better in this area? Do research on these doctors...Period!

Doesn' show real concern for his patients. Treats is more like a business then a conerned Doctor.

in my opinion dr Akel , is a great doct , he found out about my situation and taking care of it , i been to several doct befre , i rate him in the top 3 i seen so far ,great Doct thank you

This man has no business being a doctor. He would not do appropriate tests to confirm my situation, and none of us were surprised when test results came back appearing "normal". He would not refer me to the appropriate specialist, and would not do the proper blood tests that would have confirmed my condition. On my last visit, he actually walked out of the room while I was still asking him a question. Walked right out and closed the door. If you have something that requires antibiotic treatment, you might be okay, but anything more serious than a cold or cough, stay far away. I have never been so rudely treated or met a doctor with so little compassion in my life. The day he walked out of the room, he had only been there for about 3 minutes. I was still asking questions and he walked right out of the room and closed the door.So, yesterday I was in the hospital because of complications due to the fact that he would not refer me to a specialist for my condition. I had called Dr. Akel's… office and told them of my symptoms and he said "Go to the ER." When I saw the ER doctor, he said, "Why did you come to the ER?" I said because my doctor had instructed me to do so. "Why did they refer you to ER?" I said, "I guess because he doesn't understand it and refuses to refer me to a specialist." Then 2 minutes later he was asking me why I didn't just let Dr. Akel manage my condition. "Because he wouldn't run the proper labs that would actually show the condition. I don't trust that he has the knowledge, interest or understanding to treat anyone for much of anything." The ER doctor said maybe I should give him a chance. Hmmm: so one minute you're questioning WHY Dr. Akel referred me to the ER and the next minute suggesting I should just trust him? NO THANKS! You better do your homework and know what's going on with your body before you let this quack treat you for anything.
