Dr. Majdi Ashchi, DO

I had what was supposed to be a minor procedure done at the Cath lab in late February. The Care team did not tell me to stop a medication (opioid inhibitor) prescribed by my physician at Mayo. As a result, the opioid and Benzo given for conscious sedation during the procedure were completely ineffective. When I was screaming and crying in pain, the nurse told me 'If you continue to cry like that, you will bleed into your abdomen.' The nurse disconnected me from the heart monitor in recovery after pointing out that my heartbeat was highly irregular. He did not contact anyone about the irregular heartbeat and did not wait for the condition to resolve. When I expressed my concerns to Dr. Aschi, he was VERY condescending and even stated that 'Maybe I had a low pain threshold'. Additionally he stated that he does not like to counsel patient to stop medications prescribed by other physicians EVEN THOUGH standard protocols for this medication are to stop three days BEFORE any procedure

Dr. Ashchi is hands down the best. You can expect to wait to see him, but anything worthwhile is worth waiting for. He spent a lot of time with my family and I answering our questions and reassuring us. You can tell he cares about all of his patients. He treated us like family. I couldn't imagine going anywhere else. Thanks Dr. Ashchi!

He totally freaked me out with his bedside manner. Has no problem pushing religion on you. My final visit after my tests was vague and now I need another opinion. He also said that he would not guarantee that I would live another year, only God could do that. Why was I there instead of church?

I would and have recommended Dr. Ashchi to family and friends. He gave many more years to my mom by the creative, insightful ways he put together an action plan when another local doctor said there was nothing that could be done. I credit him with saving my mom's life. Both my brother and I have seen him and are completely satisfied.

I felt I was talking to a used car sales man rather than a doctor. His attitude and diagnosis was based on dollars he could make off of me and his loads of unnecessary tests. I highly suggest shopping around and getting other opinions. Come to find out I didn't even need a surgery. It's doctors who put money first rather than patients' interests that are causing our health ins costs to go up. His staff were also scared to death of him.
