I would provide zero stars of that was an option. I, forty six year old female, had a procedure in late February. Tuesday (three days) before nurse stated that all meds were good to continue. Immediately before the procedure, Nurse confirmed that all daily meds were taken night before procedure as directed. I experienced a MAJOR KNOWN reaction between a daily medication and the sedation medication. I felt and screamed and cried in pain. The nurse moved to my shoulder and stated, "If you continue to cry like that you will bleed into your abdomen." The care team at the cath lab showed no compassion or concern for my EXTREME pain and finished the procedure despite my screaming. When finished, I was wheeled back to recovery. The male nurse applied pressure to my groin for ten to fifteen minutes to stop the bleeding. He asked as he was removing my iv and taking me off the heart monitor if I had ever had an irregular heartbeat. I stated that I had when I was on a particular… medication, but I stopped the medication, and the situation resolved. He showed me on the heart monitor where my heartbeat was again VERY irregular. Then he removed me from the heart monitor. (He did not contact anyone about the irregularity and did not leave me attached until the situation resolved.) When I brought my experience to Dr. Aschi (head of the practice) at my follow-up appointment, he was very condescending, telling me that he had received nine back surgeries and had never left the hospital with pain medication. He stated that some people have this procedure without anesthesia and that he encounters many patients on the same daily medication for a variety of reasons. He stated that he doesn't like to counsel patients to stop medications that were started by different physicians. Then he stated that "Maybe I just had a low pain threshold for pain". (Quite the opposite as I have dealt with chronic pain since I was in high school) That is where I lost it and slammed the door on my way out screaming that I would NEVER return to the practice. It took a fifteen second Google search on Saturday after the procedure to learn that standard protocol for the daily medication is to stop it three days BEFORE a procedure. Further investigation on revealed the reaction that I had is a KNOWN REACTION to the combination of the daily med and the sedation med. Had Dr. Aschi expressed compassion and a desire to correct the issues that caused me so much pain, it would have stopped there. I am three weeks out from the procedure and still having nightly nightmares. My psychiatrist has had to add additional medication in an effort to ensure that I get some restful sleep. I should be able to, and have always in the past, trust my physician to KNOW, or at least research, possible interactions between my daily medications and the drugs scheduled for use in a procedure. I have never had a fear of a medical doctor before. Not that I blindly trust, but I have not felt the need to question ALL that they state. One additional matter, the group will connect you to your medical records thru an app. Thru this connection I learned that my chart was full of fictions. It repeatedly stated that specific subjects were discussed when the subject was never even brought up. They stated that I refused a vaccine that I was never offered, various falsehoods such as this. I HIGHLY recommend that people researching this group as a potential care team member choose a different practice. This practice has NO CARE for their patients, and they will write significant fictions in your chart.
