I was attracted to medicine and surgery in particular because it enables me to make significant change in a person's life, not only by using my medical knowledge but also physical change with my technical ability. In bariatrics, there is a different level of satisfaction that comes from seeing the change bariatric surgery can provide. These are patients that are often denied other surgeries because of weight issues and it is sometimes their last resort to start a new life. My training and the way that I was brought up has taught me to look at my patients as a whole and not to just focus on one particular problem they have. I seek a comprehensive look, and that involves working closely with their primary care providers and making sure they have a safer overall experience. My goal is always to focus 100 percent on providing the safest way to get the best outcome with the least amount of risk for the patient.
