Dr. Mani Menon, MD

After a cystectomy performed at the University of Michigan Hospital, I suffered for years with chronic urinary problems and kidney disease. The pain was unbearable and no one was able to "fix" the problem. At one of many emergency room visits, a Urologist at Henry Ford Hospital was willing to submit my records to Dr. Menon, a doctor known to "think out of the box". Dr. Menon was the ONE DOCTOR who said I can make you better and he did!!! He performed robotic surgery and I have been pain-free and healthy for just shy of two years. He is my angel!

In my situation I feel he performed great surgery, two years and still cancer free. I have talked to many others with a different doctor and they to this day still have many complications. I would recommend as I did all the research and feel he is the best

Atrocious bedside manner. Although he was one of the early surgeons to perform robotic prostatectomy--all he seemed to learn is arrogance. His publicity went to his head, but most certainly NOT to his patients benefit. If he has any ability, which I now seriously doubt, you cannot tell from the results. When I asked, on entering the operating room, "Please make sure your do most of the surgery, or at least VERY closely supervise," Dr. (and I hesitate to use doctor in front of his name) said, "I will NOT! If you don't like it, leave." I made a fatal error and stayed with the nasty quack!!! I suggest you do NOT!!!!!

My husband was operated on by Dr. Menon. He was stage 2 at the time with 0 lymph node involvement. Fast forward one year and he is stage IV. PET scan revealed cancer seeding (tumor exfoliation) which occurred during the robotic surgery. Had very little follow-up care with Dr. Menon's office and within a year discovered that due to the surgery, he is stage IV with untreatable disease.

No doubt he is a great surgeon but he told my husband that the cancer cells are gone and he has been cured and no further treatment will be required. That was not the case. My husband had such an aggressive cancer that it became terminal and he succumbed to it.

We agree with the other negative reviews as we also experienced the same. Told my husband he wouldn't need any further treatment which was false. Pretends to be humble but just trying to protect his standing. Poor follow up care. Dropped the ball. Was only interested in performing surgery on my husband and putting him on display.

Great surgeon. Very business-like (stratight to the point) but easy to talk with. I had little contact with him after surgery (actually only in my hospital room a couple hours after) but his staff is so competent there was no need. HIGHLY recommended!!!

Amazing doctor. What a great guy on top of being an excellent surgeon. I had to have a radical prostectomy and was really scared. After the surgery I had very few side effects. Man is a genius.
