Dr. Manolito Belleza Fidel, MD

Probably the worst psychiatrist in Southern California. Does not care about patients assigned to him, become hostile if questioned, and has no communication skills.

Dr. Fidel is an awful doctor. He lacks compassion for mental health patients, and often lies and does not follow through with what he agrees to with the patient. The only time he spent time speaking with me was when he was locked in a room with me and two other staff members. Besides those times, he did not seem interested in my health, and made me feel like I was just a check list he was trying to rush through. He did not follow through with the medication changes we agreed to, or actually put in the release date that he confirmed with me at College Hospital. Of two of the three times I spoke with him initially, he lied to me and I had to submit a grievance and threaten to leave with an AMA to get the staff to reach out to him to release me on the day he had agreed to because he shows up only after the social workers have left. I would not recommend Dr. Fidel to anybody, and I worry for all the patients who he treats as other patients there told me he failed them similarly

He’s a terrible person. Treats the patient’s like they’re worthless and belittles staff. He’s rude, arrogant & should NOT be in the field of medicine. He puts NO effort into his job and he should be ashamed of himself. PIG!

He was totally unprofessional. He was rude and showed no empathy. Extremely condescending. He misdiagnosed my son. He just wanted to prescribe medication and didn’t want to discuss or explain anything to my son. He has no clue what he’s doing. He just wants his high salary. Don’t trust him with your loved ones. He’s a dangerous man.

Agree with all the other negative reviews. My son was under Dr. Fidel's so-called "care" recently. Like many others reported, Dr. Fidel did not take the time to really understand a patient. Honestly, I'm not sure I can blame Dr. Fidel entirely for the poor service received at Del Amo, as my son's entire stay at the facility was beyond what I would describe as a nightmare. I want to expose Dr. Fidel and the facility as a complete fraud either by way of class action law suit or documentary. If you are willing to share your story with me for either, I would appreciate hearing from you (cstargio at yahoo).

Mr. Fidel here was my assigned "doctor" as an in patient for Del Amo Behavioral System. Such a crappy doctor he was. I am just now processing the damage that was done to me at the hands of this man. So sad that the only form of satisfaction I can resort to is writing this negative review. This man never fully evaluated me or took the time to understand this patient while being admitted. If I asked too many questions or "annoyed" him in any way. He threatened to forcefully extend my stay. He forced and heavily sedated me with Anti psychotic medications - all in the name of insurance coverage. I had to spend months weaning myself off of all of the unnecessary drugs this man prescribed and forced me to take. It was a ridiculous amount and was even loosing my vision with one of the prescriptions.... All in all I highly DO NOT RECOMMEND this MD. Basically whay everyone on here says is true. Extremely hostile and not willing to listen to you or offer the necessary compassion that is necessary when dealing with mental health issues. Likes to threaten patients (offering to extend their hold). Never looked me in the eye or gave me the time of day when under his care. Put me on strong medications that made me want to jump out of my skin! The dosages were too high and he never explained what they were and how they would help me .

It's a shame that this man works with Mental Health patients. Even if you enter his hospital (Delamo) voluntarily, you are almost guaranteed to be placed on hold, and hence, stay longer there. I went in for threatening somebody, but I ended up being given sedative medication which is used for people with schizophrenia. The medication made me feel horrible, and since I told them I felt worst under the medication, it was a mandatory extra 48 hour hold in order to "adjust" to the medicine. All this man wants is your money. He will give you dangerous medication you don't need, and keep you at his hospital involuntarily for longer so that he could suck more money from you. On top of all of that, the few moments where you get to see him, he doesn't even look at you in the eye, or have a natural conversation with you. All he does is ask scripted questions and write them down. I was very frustrated with him, so I asked him if he's actually gonna do his job and help me in any way, but… all he said was that his job isn't to converse with me, but to prescribe me medicine. I wanted to get up and slap this pompous jerk in the face for that comment, but I'm an adult, and I was at a hospital so that was a no go. All in all, if you have a choice, DO NOT GO TO THIS JOKE OF A DOCTOR. HE IS CORRUPT, AND ALL HE WANTS IS YOUR MONEY FROM LONGER STAYS, AND UNNECESARY MEDICATION.

Dr. Fidel is an excellent physician.

Dr. Fidel looked over my son for a few days at the hospital. He threatened to keep him involuntarily for two weeks if he did not agree to stay voluntarily for the weekend. He medicated him with powerful drugs for schizophrenia when my son was just depressed. Once my son was discharged, he had a bad reaction to the medication, and Dr. Fidel would not return my calls, nor the therapist's calls. We were told by another Dr. that the medication he prescribed was not appropriate for depression. Do not trust Dr. Fidel. I wish DelAmo hospital would hire a different dr. Who cares about people rather than money.
