Dr. Marc James Grella, MD

Unfortunately, my experience with Dr. Mark Grella’s office — especially the front desk staff — has been extremely disappointing. The office communication is disorganized, staff are often unhelpful and unprofessional, and incorrect information is repeatedly given to patients regarding scheduling, insurance, and prior authorization processes. Instead of helping patients navigate issues, it often feels like you are being given the runaround. For a medical office handling important and time-sensitive care, there should be much better communication, accuracy, and professionalism from the administrative staff. I hope the office improves its patient support experience because dealing with the front office has been unnecessarily stressful.

This doctor is a nightmare, the entire practice is pretty terrible actually! He acts like he knows it all and talks down to parents. Not to mention, his advice was INACCURATE and my daughter struggled because of this. Find another doctor, please. There are so many good ones out there.

Marc Grella is obnoxious and is by far the worst doctor I've ever had. Rude is the best way to describe him. He thinks he knows more than he does. He doesn't understand what he is prescribing, believes whatever big pharma tells him with little research of his own. Everything is rushed to get as many patients through and make as much money as possible. These type of doctors have ambitions that get in the way of real patient care, it's the only excuse I can come up with, must be what it is. They didn't get into medicine to care for people that is obvious. Grella is an automaton. He's everything that's bad with medicine today. Stay away, find someone who really cares about you and your children. There is an attitude and culture that pervades this pediatric practice and it's completely misguided, sure of itself but totally misguided and wrong on every level. I don't trust him at all. Mass General please do a clean sweep of this practice, it doesn't belong in this esteemed… hospital. It is poorly managed - replace all the doctors and receptionist - no one deserves this place. I went to Mass General thinking there would be good quality doctors here, it is just the opposite. My view on Mass General as world class is forever changed.

we were referred to doctor Grella for our three years old son. he is nice and he listens to our questions and concerns. Every time we go to his office he greets us with a big smile. he takes notes and gives advice. so far so good. he is probably overwhelmed with the number of patients he sees but make sure to prepare a list of questions before the appointment. ,

Nice at first, but on the second appointment, he was 1.5 h late Misdiagnosed our son twice. I've called on Monday with a question, spoke to his nurse. Then called back on Tuesday with the same problem asking to see the doctor, not until Friday his nurse called back saying he was too busy that day and he could only see us on the following Monday! After 1 week suffering, I found another doctor who saw us the same day.

I am in shock that there are good reviews for this doctor. He is the rudest doctor I have ever had to encounter in my whole life. After a 40 hour labor he had the nerve to round at us at 5 am and then yell at us for asking about breastfeeding and if the amount of breast milk that is coming in was enough. He rushes you through appointments, does not want to answer your questions and is condescending and has even gone as far as told me that is enough questions for one appointment. I am not sure if some of the positive reviews on here are about the same doctor because I just do not see it. He may know his material but this is very much overshadowed by his rude condescending bedside manner. It was so bad that I was terrified to take my child to see him for the first few months until I finally found a caring doctor I was happy to go to. Also, he has forgotten to fill out prescriptions on occasion AND to top it all off his secretary is also RUDE. Do yourself a favor and find another ped

He is the most rude doc I have ever seen and has that reputation. He speaks to us as if we are stupid. Condescending and unfriendly would best describe him. Once I brought my son in for something minor and he did not even glance or say hello to my other 2 kids, including a newborn who was also his patient! He is just plain unpleasant and all of his collegues say the same. When I came to a visit after emergency C with premature twins, he was nasty because we had brought 2 babies and the appointment time slot was ONLY FOR ONE! Who do you think made that mistake, me, who just had twins or his office staff?? He blamed me and my husband and reamed me out for not knowing whether or not my milk had come in.

Great doc - complete and caring. We have been very happy with him as both of our childrens' physician.

We've had Dr. Grella as our pediatrician for 10 years. He is great with my three children. They are never afraid to go see him. He always answers all my questions and takes my concerns seriously. He has a good sense of humor and can be silly with the children. He was great when they were babies, and now that my oldest is 12 he's great with him as well as my 10 yo and 6 yo. Many people question why I keep going into Boston for a pediatrician and I always answer that we love and trust Dr. Grella. It's worth the trip.

To his credit, Dr. Grella is really excellent at handling babies. With that being said, he is rather difficult to communicate with. He has a very reserved personality and is not very encouraging of dialogue and questions. If you have just delivered, expect him to round on you at 4am. Expect him to give you one word answers to your questions and not be particularly receptive to your new-ness at being a parent. I now appreciate taking the time to interview a pediatrician. Diagnostic skills matter- but if a doctor is not very good at communicating and hearing your concerns/thoughts as a parent - and not explaining - its kind of a frustrating experience! My advise: go to Children's Hospital!
