Dr. Marc Dennis Sokolow, MD

Dr. Sokolow is the worst! He spent less than five minutes with me and didn't do a physical examination. When I tried to ask questions about my medication he told me to make another appointment with him because he had other patients waiting (did I mention this was four minutes into the appointment- an appointment that he was also 40 minutes late for??). I was floored by his arrogance but still scheduled another appointment with him. He was even ruder at that appointment! He made me feel like an idiot for having questions about my meds, and once again he was out of the room after only 5 minutes. He didn't answer any of my questions but by then I wouldn't have trusted his answers anyway. A doctor who can't be bothered by his patients probably shouldn't be a doctor.

My doctor of 20 years retired and recommended his colleague, Dr. Sokolow. Dr. Sokolow did not even give me a physical exam...he just looked down on me, pretending to listen. I have anxiety and asked for a refill of an RX I had been on for many, many years in a very low dose. Apparently, because I exercise care in taking the medicine and was able to be off of it for a bit while waiting for my appointment, Dr. Sokolow penalized me for going without it and he deemed me no longer in need of it..just like that. He was cold, clinical and treated me like I was a drug addict. The look on his face was a sneer. I left his office in shock. When I called him crying a month later to explain that I had lost my job and that my Dad died, asking for my medication of many, many years to be re-instated, he was silent the whole time then re-iterated the same thing from the visit, "I am not giving you the medicine." I told him he needed to be reported to the medical board. Please know I am not leaving… anything out here...sometimes there are not two sides of a story and one side is just wrong. I am a woman in my 50's who does not drink or smoke and have never used drugs or abused RX medicine. I am a mother, a wife and a professional. My anxiety is a result of real issues in my life and the medicine does help me. I was on the same low dosage for many years never asking for or needing an increase. Even my prior doctors' opinion of 20 years was totally disregarded. Dr. Sokolow deemed me capable without it after spending 5 minutes with me. Most people on this medication for years have withdraw and can not just stop taking it but I, on the other hand, exhibit no withdraw because I only take it as needed and managed without it for a short time...so you take me off of it completely. I have always taken little breaks with the medication to insure I was not addicted...something my prior doctor understood and most doctors would appreciate. I did everything right here yet you punish me for it. You have insulted me, Sir. I feel humiliated and ashamed because you treated me like I was not a real person with real needs. Needless to say, you have increased my anxiety...I always look inward and blame myself...well, not this time...I will not blame myself for your untoward behavior, Sir. I have yet to go to a new doctor because your treatment left me so raw that I can't cope with re-telling this story. I hope you read this, Dr. Sokolow, and remember that you were unkind and unreasonable to me and did not meet my reasonable needs...you caused me harm. Please do not treat another patient like you treated me. Why did you do this? Just because you could. You knew you would get away with treating me like I am no one because you are a doctor in good standing, indeed, you have a 5 star rating. Shame on you, Dr. Sokolow. I deserved better.

Dr. Sokolow's interaction with this patient is exemplary. He listens and lays out all the options.He is the best internist I have been with in Maryland.

I would highly recommend Dr. Marc Sokolow. He is a good listener who manages to help his patients to feel that he has enough time to talk with them. He is a good diagnostician. He is excellent with elderly patients as well as with younger ones like me. HJe is the only doctor I've ever found who is invariably on time for scheduled appointments. He has been my internist for 25 years,

Dr. Sokolow, I was so forunate to have found you..well Rose Ritmiller loaned you to me! I have had excellent care with you and I so appreciate you're being one of the physicians from the days when doctors were such caring people...and smart as well. Thank you for being my doctor and taking good care of me.

Dr. Sokolow is one of the most patient, caring, attentive, and thorough physician I have had in nearly 50 years of going to the doctor. I highly recommend him
