He ruined my life. Had surgery in 2010. He operated on me, and there was another issue that should have been repaired. He did not do what needed to be done. The issue was noted on the surgical report. After years of being left with a mess, I am now looking at another surgery to repair what was not fixed. I was treated horribly by this man at a followup visit to address this issue and by his nurse at U of C Hospital. He escorted me into a room, where only he and I were in, and started yelling at me. All I wanted was for him to fix what he had left undone, and instead I received a verbal lashing telling me this was MY fault and he couldn't fix it. It was insane. He couldn't get rid of me fast enough. Sorry I ever walked into his office. No one deserves to be treated with such disregard and disrespect.

Dr. Patti spent a lot of time with me and asked if I minded having students present. Of course, I welcomed his students, as UCSF is a teaching hospital. He performed a Nissen fundaplication on me 13 years ago and I have had NONE of the complications reported by other people after this surgery . He was not only an expert in his field, he was genuinely kind and friendly.

He literally spent about 2 minutes with me and offered me couple tests. He charged me $600 for the two minutes for the so-called consultation . No wonder there are lots of articles out there regarding NO rules/regulations about the fees that doctors have for themselves.

Went in for laparascopic removal of 10 cm of esophagus. Estimated one week in hospital. Discharged six weeks later with stomach and part of esophagus removed and second surgery to correct surgical error.Additional complications during surgery: cardiac arrest, uncontrolled bleeding. In my opinion, all the above could have been avoided with proper diagnosis.
