Dr. Margaretta Lynn Mendenhall

What a gift Dr. Mendenhall is to her patients! I so appreciate her professionalism, kindness and compassion. She has helped me so much by patiently listening and encouraging me in my heath. She truly reflects the Mercy values.

Dr Mendenhall was a physician recommended by my pcp. I’m not from stl, and saw she has great reviews so I was excited to finally have a great obgyn. Wow, was I wrong. There’s many instances where she is so inappropriate or lacked the compassion for a working pregnant person. Being with her throughout my whole pregnancy, I thought she would eventually show so kind of feeling/kindness, and was disappointed all the way to the end of my pregnancy. Her other colleagues are great, but definitely try to avoid her. Not sure how she got the great reviews that I saw on Mercy. I’m suspecting those are paid to get people in to see her since her real reviews are absolutely terrible.

I cannot express enough how degrading, inappropriate, and insensitive this Dr is. I was a patient for nearly 4 years and experienced a miscarriage at 16 wks while in her care. In the aftermath of this tragic event she ignored my messages asking for the test results to be explained in more detail, as they were released on My Mercy. And then proceeded to finally respond with a phone call a week later lecturing me and telling me "this isn't going to bring your baby back!", blaming my mental illnesses for my reaction (which was simply asking for my test results to be explained), and backing her nurse who was beyond rude to me, the nurse stated in a phone conversation "I wouldn't know what testing was done. I wasn't in the delivery room." This all seemed very fishy to me. Almost a year later I sincerly believe they were hiding something and/ or testing that was promised to me was never done. Stay away! Very unprofessional!

Dr Mendenhall delivered my baby. She has zero bedside manner. Dr Mendenhall barley said a word to me as she was too busy talking to her college about her thanksgiving, this went on the entire time she delivered my baby. She snapped at my sister when she was thanking the nurse for helping me. I feel as if I caught her on a bad day however that is not my fault. Every patient should be treated with respect. She was very childish in the way that she presented and handled herself. I've had more respect from the cashier. I would not recommend this experience to family or friends.

May I have a few minutes of your time. Vitals.com is the only forum I have for telling as many women as possible that the Board Certified OB/GYNs of Mercy actually allow residents (doctors in training and definitely not Board Certified) to perform complete surgical procedures, that is, start to finish, on their purposely neglected to be told, totally unsuspecting, anesthetized patients. For your surgery it may only be part, but whichever is the case, If your doctor has not told you specifically what part of a procedure the resident is doing then your doctor has perpetrated something called "ghost surgery". "Ghost surgery" is the act of substituting one surgeon for another surgeon, supervised residents included, for any or part of a surgical procedure without the express consent of a patient who has essentially hired a specific doctor to treat them. "Ghost surgery" is considered fraud and battery of a patient (U.S. Supreme Court, 1983). Something else to seriously consider is that… risks/rates of complications definitely go up when residents are involved in surgery. Perfectly logical really when you consider many aspects of a gyno procedure can be completely blind: critical bladder dissection, vault suspension, a d&c, etc. My little bit of research also led me to the ugly discovery that residents will be allowed to do invasive bi-maual pelvic exams on you while you're in a lithotomy position and anesthetized. The Mercy doctors' thinking is you will be perfectly relaxed and excellent practice for the residents. These pelvic exams without your express consent are against the law in 4 states. HI, for example, found numerous instances of bruised cervices, torn and abraded tissue, and countless infections. While these pelvic exams are not against the law in MO, I found this practice to be so grossly unethical, I could scarcely believe it. Shouldn't the patients well being always come first? Then there is #4 on your consent form. Your "certified provider" (aka your Board Certified OB/GYN) thinks it's okay to simply tell you a resident may be involved in your care or maybe a resident will walk in minutes before your surgery and say "Hi, I'm the resident." Your Board Certified OB/GYN thinks this covers their responsibility to you. It doesn't. Hopefully, I have added some info and Good Luck with your decision.

Dr. Mendenhall is an amazing doctor. She is very professional, thorough and kind. I totally recommend her.

I trust Dr. Mendenhall 100% I would recommend her to family and friends. All the doctors in that office are very caring and good doctors and they call u to check up on instead of someone calling u. 100% happy with everyone in office.

Dr. Mendenhall has been the best doctor throughout my whole pregnancy. She always knocks before entering the room, she answers every question you have and makes sure your feeling way better before you leave. She even asks questions that you always think to ask but forget and your like oh yea I wanted to ask you that! She makes you feel comfortable and feeling 100 percent when you leave each visit! She delivered my baby as well and did everything perfect! She knew my concerns and always made me feel relaxed and at ease. After baby was here for my next check ups she still was excited and happy to hear about my baby and made sure I'm healing properly and listened to my other concerns I was having. I would highly recommend Dr. Mendenhall to everyone! I do not have one bad thing to say.
