Dr. Margherita M Milone, MD

Please folks avoid this doctor at all costs. There’s another review that says that Dr. Milone finds humans detestable. Unfortunately I concur with that. I was treated with disdain and contempt with every attempt to honestly answer her questions. There is no ability to have a 2-way conversation with this doctor. She’s not interested in anything you have to say unless it validates her self confirming bias. If a symptom doesn’t fit her bias it will be dismissed or incorrectly attributed to a comorbidity that she has no understanding of. She is not current on research, not capable of thinking outside the box, and not willing to render a diagnosis unless you fit a textbook classic mold. You don’t need a doctorate to understand that is not the case with most people who need Mayo’s help, yet she does not understand this. Lack of soft skill sets is not a fatal flaw for a competent physician in and of itself. Dr. Milone’s shortcomings go way beyond her lack of bedside manner. Read the reviews.… Believe them. An average rating of 2.8 is very generous. This doctor does not have the skill sets required to be effective in her role. She is more of a liability to Mayo than an asset. Please find someone else.

We saw Dr. Milone and PA on Jan11. My wife and I so fortunate to have this professional, detailed expertise in my journey to find my specific disorder!! I love her direction and plan to finish testing and analysis! PA great team member and we are looking forward to seeing both soon again!!!!

Great physician. Provided me with diagnosis and treatment after long searching for a diagnosis.

Referred to her by my two docs for testing for three of four things rarer. She repeated all my doctors testing and told me everything is normal with these 5 or 6 tests. I could have told her that. No diagnosis not even a pamphlet about anything as I’m leaving. No answer just a blank stare. Avoid!!!

The ignorance this "Doctor" exudes is truly astounding. Please save your time and money and do not waste a moment of your life in an appointment with her. Her bedside manner is deplorable. She is not knowledgable on many subjects within her own field of practice and still preaches information that is horribly out of date. Every other doctor I have seen at the mayo clinic is truly wonderful and I have truly no idea how she is still working for such an amazing hospital system. Hopefully she will either study herself or go back to school so that her knowledge base is more up to date.

I have never seen a Doctor be so rude to an elderly person as Dr Milone was in a resent visit. Shame on her!!!

Would not recommend this Mayo Clinic neurologist to anyone!

Dr. Milone took the time to evaluate me thoroughly, but her bedside manner leaves a lot to be desired. She made me feel like I was doing something wrong at times during her testing, and she would question why I did something a certain way - "why are you doing this?", when I was doing the best I could do. She seemed to be judging sometimes instead of observing. I saw her for a follow up the next day, after I had an EMG, blood testing and a visit to a Physiatrist (rehab doctor). She said my EMG and blood work were normal, and that I should get better soon. She and the other doctor wanted me to participate in a specialized program at Mayo for motor relearning, saying I wasn't weak, and my poor walking pattern was caused by poor motor planning. One problem - I am a Physical Therapist, and I have looked at movement problems for 24 years - I understand movement disorders, and weakness is causing mine. I have atrophy of several muscle groups. I have weakness and get fatigued very… quickly. I have been unable to exercise for 9 months, and I was a competitive triathlete before this hit me. I have had many tests in my local area, with several diagnoses that were disproved after more testing was done, or when meds didn't help. That is the reason for traveling to Mayo - to get a team of doctors to figure things out. During my second visit, Dr. Milone told me that I don't have ALS or any other Neurological Disease, which is a GREAT thing to hear. Unfortunately, she seemed to dismiss my weakness and problems and offered no follow up with any other specialist to try to determine the cause of my problems. Now my wife and I have to figure out the next step to get diagnosed, and we thought that going to Mayo would give us the answers. Maybe with a different doctor, who knows?
