Dr. Mari Anne Madsen, MD

I never met the doctor because the front desk person was clearly new and kept placing me on hold and repeating what another the other associate was telling her to say WITHOUT even understanding my situation and request to start the process of meeting surgeons for surgery I hope to have in 3-4 months. They refused to schedule a consultation appointment a month to 6 weeks out and said I had to call back. I called 2 other doctors' offices and got appointments with zero issues. Previous reviews mentioned an unprofessional office staff and clearly, that holds true. This is too bad for the doctor, honestly.

Unpleasant bedside manner and indicated that she doesn’t have a crystal ball when I asked a question, very unprofessional. Received a second opinion by another doctor, and had a much better outcome and resolution.

Mari Madsen MD After completing a colonoscopy in 2022 my doctor said that a polyp in a Diverticulosis pouch would have to be removed surgically including a small portion of my colon. I was referred to Mari Madsen, MD for a laparoscopic Hemicolectomy. During my first visit, even though I was nervous, Dr. Madsen put me at ease and reviewed my information. She discussed what was involved with the surgical procedure and answered all of my questions. I found Dr. Madsen to be very personable, a good listener who patiently addressed all of my questions and a straight shooter. Dr. Madsen went over the entire surgical procedure and answered all my questions . She provided me with an Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) Guidebook which contained information which addressed any/all questions I had from Pre-surgery prep to Post Op. The ERAS Guidebook was excellent, and I often reviewed the information to ensure I knew what was expected of me and exactly what would happen during and… after the surgery. The day of surgery at AAMC, Dr. Madsen and her team were excellent and explained everything to me before I was sedated. By following the ERAS process, minimal pain medications were required and I knew exactly what was expected of me to ensure a quick recovery. Just as Dr. Madsen said, I felt a little better every day and very quickly I was back to normal (except no lifting over 10 lbs). I found Dr. Madsen and her entire team to be excellent and would highly recommend Dr. Madsen to others faced with my situation. Christine D.

Dr Madsen was terrific. She was professional, friendly and explained the procedure so I knew what to expect. Most importantly she fixed my problem.

No one wants to have to see a Colorectal surgeon but let me tell you when you have a surgeon like Mari Madsen it makes a huge difference. Dr. Madsen has been great in making a horrible and uncomfortable situation less awful. She is genuinely caring, warm, yet blunt when needed to be. In addition I rarely spend more than 10 minutes in the waiting room and yet she sits down during our appts to answer all questions without rushing. Thank you, Dr Madsen for being wonderful. The world needs more people like you.

I am in awe with Dr Madsen. She soothed my fears, educated me and Although I always expected each visit to be torture she made me laugh and I always left feeling at ease. She truly is one of the most wonderful doctors I’ve ever Met.

This office was recommended to me by one of my other doctors. When I walked in, the staff was very rude and not friendly at all. The receptionist was very unprofessional on the phone with a client and everyone there seemed so miserable as if they hate their job. The office is old and it doubles as some kind of children's center - not quite sure- it was a little confusing. Dr. Madsen was not nice at all, and does not come off as warm and caring as the other reviews mentioned. I do not recommend going here- there must be better places with warm, welcoming staff and a doctor that doesn't make you feel like you are an idiot.

This visit was terrible from start to finish. Before getting to my appointment they called and asked if I could come in an hour early to meet their needs, I explained that I could not and their tone was very rude and the women responded "see you later" and hung up. When I walked in the door there were two girls up front. Neither said hello. One said "I need your insurance card" and handed me a clipboard. When I was done filling it out the other girl said "it's a $40 copay" and took my money, that was our only interaction. I was taken back, the doctor took a look at me, told me there was nothing evidently wrong, and asked me questions. One question was vague and when I responded "kind of" she responded firmly with "it's a yes or no question" this was just one of her rude responses. I would never recommend this office to anyone. Everyone this is miserable and in turn makes your experience miserable.

I highly recommend Dr Madsen. Her professionalism is without question! The procedure she performed on me came through with flying colors. Anne Arundel Medical center is lucky to have her on their staff. Not only is she my doctor, I consider her my friend.
