Dr. Maria Isabel Betancourt, MD

I had an appointment scheduled to see this physician recently. The receptionist (I don't know her name, I can only say that she was a fair skinned Spanish speaking woman) was extremely rude to not only me, but the other patient that was present at the time. She had a very unprofessional attitude, raised her voice, and spoke in a condescending manner to both the other patient and myself. It was shocking, disrespectful, and ridiculous. There were 2 other women sitting behind the desk at the time and they did nothing. Perhaps the receptionists and office staff don't understand how this process works. As patients, we pay for the services that are being rendered and are not coming to the office for handouts. The receptionists are extensions of the physician and represent the clinicians that work there. Therefore, if office staff are allowed to behve in a disrespectful manner and mistreat patients, I don't doubt that the physicians do the same. Reading through Yelp reviews I now see… that several other patients made similar complaints about the rude unprofessional behavior of the office staff. Looking at the dates of the complaints, this has been going on since 2013 and it is now 2019. So it is clear that the physicians there do not care about patient treatment or the patient experience. I did not stay long enough to see the physician. After being talked to like a dog by the receptionist, I cancelled my appointment on the spot and left. There are too many other physicians offices that treat patients with kindness and respect.

They are worry more about money than Pt. Got to appointment in time reception unprofessional Dr was over heard asking receptionist to verify insurance on a pt if not she will not be seen, once in room it was unsanitary and was told to tech and she cleaned it. Met with dr was professionally polite but was not welcoming and was rushing me out. Will not recommend

I had the worst experiences ever with Dr. Maria Betancourt. Every single time I tried to get my regular Premarin prescription they said I needed to come in every 6 months 'just to be sure I'm handling' a prescription I've taken for 10 years. No test results discussed. When she coded a visit incorrectly, she refused to recode it, so I had to pay $350 for my annual Gyn exam, and the receptionists/office managers are incredibly, terribly rude if you ask them the smallest thing, never apologize, and if there is any problem, they blame you and never, ever apologize. 3 weeks after my father died in an accident I needed a prescription, and was driven nearly mad trying to get them to help me, in an incredibly stressful time in my life. They are unprofessional, heartless, incompetent, brusque, bossy, and the worst doctors ever.

I have always had a pleasant time at Dr. Betancourt's office, however my recent interaction with them has been horrible. I visited the office nearly a year ago for an undiagnosed condition (I was attending law school in Indiana and traveled to NY just to see her). Unbeknownst to me, after my insurance paid the bill, I had acquired a co-pay. The billing department at Dr. Betancourt's office sent bills to an incorrect address and sent a $25 bill to collections that ended up on my credit report after they sent notices to the incorrect address. I have received many telephone calls from Dr. Betancourt's office regarding appointments and testing results, but no one bothered to give me a courtesy call regarding a MEASLY $25 bill that has ruined my credit. I will never again visit this office. Patient regard and care are equally important as services rendered.

Dr.betancourt has been my GYN for three years. she is always very pleasant and warm. I never have a long wait and i am treated warmly and professionaly by her staff. I have recieved a call back in a timely manner when i needed further information> i am very happy with the service provided and would happily recommend Dr. betancourt to anyone in need of a great GYN DR.

My experience with her was excellent, the doctor and the staff are really nice. When I had an emergency Doctor responded me within 10 mins.I never had to wait for more than 5 mins. She does not bother me to visit her office for prescriptions and reports rather mail it easily. I never faced problem in consulting her over the phone when required she always respond nicely.

Dr. Betancourt is not extremely nice in her bedside manner, and the two times I went to see her, I got the impression she wanted to get rid of me as soon as possible. She didn't seem to care to spend any time or find out how I was doing. I don't think she even remembered my name. Her nurses are even worse..they're brusque and do not attempt to make your visit pleasant. When there was a mix-up with the insurance they called me angrily telling me I had to call my insurance, and when I asked a question received a nasty response. Although it is nice to get the appointment over with and be in and out in a short time, it would be nice to have a nice or even baseline decent experience at least. Will not go back again.

I had have several appoinments with Dr. Betancourt, she's very good. Her Nurse Practitioners are also very good and caring, but one thing I can not stand everytime I go is the usless and at times rude "secretaries" or, "appoinment makers" who work there, specially one called "Ashley". It is toobad they have bad attitude people at front since the doctors are so good.
